I'm just a total piece of shit and I'm not sure why I keep posting on this site. Christ, I have spent years with idiots giving me bad advice about online dating and haven't noticed that the thread I'm in selects for people that can't talk to people worth a damn.
how does this game actually get played? is it on persistent worlds/servers or do i just fire up my single player save and host friends? is there some sort of objective win condition or do i just try to survive as long as possible

This is going entirely off playing the first game, and what I think "drop-in co-op" means, but you basically have a single player world, and your friend may join your world and help out. They may have their own world, and can maybe bring in characters from that world, but otherwise don't affect you. There isn't a persistent world, and you can't grief or compete with other players.

The folks that step into the host game will only collect Influence, the currency at an increaced multiplier ala Dark Souls. So I'd do the opposite, whoever plays the most should hop onto an early or medium playtime world.

Edit: for reference, one of the big dick endgame bases require 1000 influence. Killing a Juggernaut special zombie rewards 20 influence.

Missions in the first game handed out 100-150 influence points. Dropping a dope gun into the stash gets youlike 30-50. I wanna say it wouldnt be that harsh of a grind, but I dont see it being attainable in a one night single player session. I do feel it would be attainable in a one night multiplayer session. But I aint got any hard numbers except hype leaks, stream analysis, and other 3rd hand sources. Games not out yet, I dont know poo poo.

Do you have work or a social engagement tomorrow, saturday, or sunday? If so, dont. If not, well... You should spend that 20bux on Breaken In featuring Gabriel Union.

Thats all the arguement I got. I feel you brother. I did the same for Archeage and Albion Online. 150bux is just... I keep saying never again as I shove benjamins into my ethernet port.

I would have totally dropped the extra 20 if the YOSE additon was for PC as well, as I don't have an Xbone and I don't ever plan to get one. I never had that version of the game so I wouldn't mind playing the expansions I never got to try. I can just wait till the 22nd to play it. I'm glad this is coming out though, I loved the first one. I hope it's not too multiplayer-centric, I really prefer playing most games like this on my own.

EDIT: VVV I chalk it up to Microsoft being Microsoft. No reason to not give it to PC owners.

From what I've seen multiplayer seems to be somewhat of an afterthought in that it's there but the implementation is lacking so I wouldn't be too worried.

There aren't separate versions, it's a "Play Anywhere" title which means you get it on Xbox AND PC. I understand your frustration though because I bought Titanfall 2 on Xbox accidentally instead of PC.

Oh, weird. Unfortunately though I now realize that the game is Windows 10 only and since I'm running 7 on my PC I won't be able to play it, so I have to decide if I want to buy a game I can only run on my laptop.

It doesn't look like you need a VPN: I'm in Europe and the game is just working normally on my PC.
Though I had to launch it via the XBox app or it would crash when trying to log in at the start.

Also I can't figure out how to change the game language to english.

Edit/initial report:
Mouse&keyboard controls work pretty great, graphics aren't super amazing but they look good, framerate so far is buttery-smooth, character animations are fluid, cars drive a hell of a lot better than in 1, the UI is really clean.

Combat-wise I think the dropkick was removed (if it's in I haven't figured out the key combination) and the counter-attack too. However a new Grab attack was added that works pretty well: it requires the zombie being either on the ground or facing away, but with the more fluid animations it's pretty easy to stun a zombie with a kick, dodge past them and then grab them from behind for an execution or a throw into another enemy.
I've only maxed and unlocked the specializations for Wits (you get two and have to pick one (that then levels up further)), so I don't know if you can unlock more special moves like in the first game yet.

Maxing out the cardio skill and picking a specialization unlocks the drop kick from SoD1. Also buffs the throw off the new grapple move.

Also, top tip for anyone new: bring extra explosives when traveling to destroy one of those blood heart things. The first one I encountered needed three molotovs & three tincan bombs to blow up. And according to the tooltips each successive one is even tougher

E: Found a second plague heart. this one took 6 molotovs and a landmine to destroy, yeesh

Is anyone else not able to pick up plague samples asides from the story one?

Also a few tips!

The car you abandon at the start of the game has supplies in the trunk, so either take it with you or go back for it with fuel.

Don't gently caress with other humans, they will destroy you.

It’s more built up State of Decay. The first one didn’t review super well either but these types of games pretty much never do. The better metric is going to be the overall reaction to those who liked the first one

Makes sense. I would imagine that most reviewers weren't familiar with the first given the reviews. Yeah a lot of it is repetitive and the AI can't find its rear end with both hands, but that is unchanged from the first.

Can you still do a slam like with powerhouse characters in the first game? I upgraded a character's fighting skill to "Endurance" and it says to do a slam with LB+X and my character flips zombies over his back like what happens in the first game if you don't follow up with a "Y" button press. I tried following up with "Y" and other buttons but my character still just flips zombies.
