Or maybe for your big predictable trilogy, you write all the poo poo out before you start filming the first one. Episode IX should have at least had a lengthy treatment with all major plot beats defined thoroughly before shooting began on Episode VII.

So what happens when they do all that work and Carrie Fisher still dies before shooting IX?

Most of the stormtroopers in the hangar scene were part of a matte painting. There's about 50 officers (because they're harder to paint realistically than faceless guys in armour), and maybe ten real troopers on the front row where Sheev and his guards walk past them. Everyone else is painted.

I can't overstate how much I hate this shot.

I like the painting itself, but yeah they don't even try to get the lighting right as Lando walks away.

It’s a staff made up of random parts she’s scavenged. You know, because she’s a scavenger.

I remember posters here claiming that her staff was a big clue about the plot of TFA because they once made a Darth Plagueis action figure that also had a grey staff.

She dipped her hand in the gelatinous goop that filled the bowl next to her and brought back a handful of something pink and smooth that smelled distinctly of sulfur. She leaned out of her recliner, offering some to Poe. “You want?”

“No, I’m fine.”

They were both sitting on long sinuous loungers in one of Wish’s ubiquitous day spas. Poe was still in his uniform, small mercy, but Maz was wrapped in a thick fluffy white towel, a second white towel wrapped tightly around her head. Her bare feet soaked in a mix of muddy chemicals Poe couldn’t identify, and willowy attendants fluttered in and out of the room, proffering teas and colonics and other concoctions Poe politely refused. Maz was now smearing the sulfur-scented goop she had offered Poe on her broad cheeks and humming merrily.

“What is that stuff?” he asked, sniffing. “It smells terrible.” The sulfur odor had been replaced with an ammonia one.

“Feline poop. From some species that’s lived here so long that it’s practically native to the planet. Imagine. A planet with no solid ground but plenty of cats. The story is that the founder of Ephemera was a Rothkahar philosopher. He domesticated this species because he thought them of advanced intelligence . . . or maybe they domesticated him. I forget. Anyway, later on, he found that their excrement had healing properties. High concentrations of tibanna gas, naturally processed into tuusah.” She laughed again. “Does wonders for the skin.”

Wow. There's a live-action Star Wars TV show, everybody. And it ended with a Mandalorian killing an IG bounty hunter droid to save a baby Yoda. Like, seriously. That's a real thing in our lives that we just watched. And, we get to see the next episode later this week, and the rest of the first season all before the end of the year. Talk about a gift from the Star Wars gods.

Vague details supposedly from Trevorrow's script got posted to reddit

quote:

The Trevorrow Episode 9

Rey's mom was going to be the Solo's nanny/maid.

Rey and Ben were basically going to be brother and sister

The First Order had mindwipe techology. (Hence nobody remembering Rey & Ben grew up together)

The First Order's plan involved Manchurian Candidate-ing people with the mindwipe technology

Leia still dies

The dynamic between Rey & Kylo was nothing more than "BE EVIL WITH ME" "NO!" "COME ON, BE EVIL WITH ME" "NO!"

Kylo still gets redemption, but mostly because of nostalgia for his childhood home, where the climax of the movie happens.

So, looking at this, it appears he's going to get a story by credit because of the introduction of Leia's lightsaber, and the Sith/Red stormtroopers got carried over.

And finally, is the entirety of the first order there? If not, does the movie give any lip service to how they don't remain in charge by just promoting their next most senior officers after the leadership dies?

Apparently the Death Star Destroyers are powered by the dark side or something so when Sheev gets kamehameha'd the entire fleet blows up like the end of Return of the King

Not much. He also has a really weird interaction with a resistance fighter/ex-storm trooper (like Finn) at the end of the movie. Everyone is celebrating and she walks up out of the blue, never seen this guy before in her life and just asks him “where are you from, General?” He tells her then asks her where she is from. She says she doesn’t know. He smiles and says “let’s find out”. And the shot lingers on them for a bit and it’s really awkward.

Did they cut out Lando mentioning having a kid that was abducted by the First Order?
