A friend and I are visiting Vancouver, BC June 7 - 10. We are staying downtown. We're doing the some ultimate whale watching trip to Victoria tour that's a gazillion dollars on Friday. No plans for Thursday evening, Saturday, or Sunday morning. One thing we're told is that we should go to Richmond for traditional Chinese food, so we'll do that at some point. She and I usually like to eat a lot, hike (though both of us are out of shape), and generally do low-key things. She does not drink. Any recommendations are appreciated. So far, these are the activities I've looked into and have interest in doing: Space Museum https://www.tourismvancouver.com/listings/h-r-macmillan-space-centre/17678/ Hike in Stanley Park https://www.tourismvancouver.com/activities/hiking/stanley-park/ Climbing Tree https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/cambie-climbing-tree Chinatown Contemporary Art Museum https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/wing-sang-building Hedge Maze https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/vandusen-garden-s-elizabethan-hedge-maze Vancouver Police Museum https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/vancouver-police-centennial-museum For food, we've been recommended: Guu, Cactus Club, Vijs, Motomachi, Flying Pig, Congee Noodle House.

Flying Pig is good eats. I was only there for a day, but did the touristy things. Flyover Canada at Canada Place was kinda neat.

Thanks for the recommendations. Ate at Vij's. Best pakoras I've ever had lifetime along with the chutney and other bar snacks. The dining room food was a bit disappointing, but I must be an outlier because every other person recommended the place as well. Was sad to see so many of the Chinese restaurants closing down to be replaced by condos. Empire Seafood was great for crab. My friend who is super picky and has traveled everywhere for food said it was the best salt and pepper crab she ever ate. We never made it there for the morning dim sum but it's supposed to be to die for. Massages were super cheap in Chinatown. $42 plus tip for a 1 hour massage. That was awesome. Ate at Sushi Itoga. It was wholly mediocre except for one piece of toro. I was surprised people were waiting to be able to eat there. DIdn't see any whales, so I guess my friend and I have standing free whale tours if we ever get back. AirBnb wasn't that much cheaper than a hotel. I think we paid around $300 a night for a great location, mediocre (and clearly staged) 2BR/1BA. We could've paid $400 a night for the Four Seasons on sale. Since we came to eat, the kitchen wasn't saving us any money.
