Yeah, pretty obvious distinction between supporting the opposition and supporting the status quo, in diplomatic terms.

Livorno must surely be the CSPAM approved football team. Their ultras are pretty much the opposite of the dogshit fascist Lazio fans.

A eu where the fringe/south countries are all reactionary shitholes that shoot boatloads of imigrants on sight while the north wrings their hands about decorum is basically the platonic ideal for juncker et all.

Meanwhile,Spain kicked out their right wing nationalist goverment due to corruption charges, and replaced it with a nominally center left party + the basque nationalists . True to form their already pledged to follow the budget aproved by the previous goverment . and people wonder why traditional center left parties are dying.

No, they didn't.

They kicked out their right wing nationalist government and replaced it with a theoretically center left wing nationalist government. Pedro Sanchez is not in favour of any kind of nationalism outside of Spanish nationalism, and none of his cabinet picks are from any seperatist movement.

The reason they're using the last government's budget is because otherwise Cuidadanos would not have voted for the no confidence motion, and Rajoy would have stayed as PM.

No, it was because the PNV wouldn't have voted for it, because the Rajoy budget sees increases for the Basque Country. The Cs were only going to vote for it if it meant an immediate election and clearly PSOE didn't intend that hence relying on the Catalan and Basque nationalists.

They might not be in a coalition officially but PSOE and Podemos don't have the numbers without the nationalist parties propping them up. Don't expect them to recognise Catalan indpendence, but a much less heavy hand seems likely if they intend this to last more than a month.

And most of the "free thinker" (read: centre right) press is entirely banking on it going to poo poo by hoping Portugal bursts into flames again like last year or screaming about Russia so hard that they honestly tried to pin the Nakba anniversary mass murder on the USSR being the first state to recognize Israel and saying the worst part about the current Italy government is them wanting Russia to return to NATO and halt all sanctions to it.

Tbf the socialist party just went full steam ahead into centrist garbage territory, they just bought a war with the teacher unions, and are being hammered by both the left AND right for going back on one of their campaign promisses.they also managed to piss off the biggest labour union last month. So that presumed majority is looking really shaky right now, with the added bonus that they just alienated the left thats keeping them in power.

Thankfully for them, the world cup starts soon.

i genuinely dont get what any euro countries are supposed to do about the migrants. like obviously treat them humanely and resettle them but every european seems to be racist as all hell so wont they inevitably be ghettozied which will exacerbate social tension and produce reactionary waves? are far left parties even better on migrants to begin with?

Yes, hands down, no question. I dare say they're good on migrants. Problem is they poll at about 2%

austerity has made things extremely poo poo for a lot of people all across europe and they resent their governments taking in refugees as a result. If everyone hadn't decided to go hardcore austerity for the last decade it probably wouldn't be an issue

I think this sorta depends on the party. Die Linke in Germany seems to have a pretty solid anti-immigration wing, but it does of course also have a different heritage than the far left of Western Europe. The level of support for the far left does also get well above 2% on occasion, but you need a hell of a lot more votes to really make an impact.

Jose posted:

The main center-right party here in Denmark deliberately (as in laid out their plans on tape) worked to ensure social problems among immigrants to boost the far right vote, as a way to ensure that they'd have an easier time forming a government in the future. This was during the Bush years. The whole austerity business, pursued by liberals and social democrats alike, hasn't helped of course.

Will be interesting to see where we go the next time the social democrats get into power though - they've just removed the strongest argument against voting for them for people of the racist persuasion; they've said they won't form a government with the immigrant friendly café-liberal party. On top of that, they've also gone full bore on trying to emulate Australia, promising to set up island concentration camps for refugees - and they seem to be shifting away from the more-liberal-than-the-liberals approach to the economy - which means we might get a center-left far-right coalition come next election. Look forward to Denmark becoming a role model again, bringing back social democracy but definitely only for white people.
