Taver Einklassen - Pal’s Diner, Clefton Suburbs, Star City, Nu York, Federated States Legion. Maybe it was the original demon written of in the Bible. Maybe it just took its name from the story. Maybe it was only the most recent in a line of Legions. Taver remembered Baphomet as it had once been thanks to his previous life, and the demon had changed greatly when it had appeared before him a few days ago on his birthday. Taver wondered if demons changed to reflect and adapt to the current trends and state of humanity...but he was not a theologist and it did not make much of a difference to him. He finished his coffee and stood up. No doubt this Legion was playing its own game, but it seemed that Taver's interests served its own for now and that was enough. Taver had spent until now learning how to fight, how to kill, but he had come to realise he could not fight a war on his own. He would need to gather others to his cause. Fortunately the world had many souls who suffered and wanted revenge, and many who felt alienated by the world and wanted to lash out against it. Taver could make use of them. He would need to network, to reach out and find those he could convince to join him through common interest or through threats of violence or worse. He spent the next few hours trawling through various forums and online communities, as well as sites or chat groups on the dark web. His method was simple. His first group was those who had been wronged by the church, disenfranchised by a lack of support from the community and looking for a way to get back and get revenge or closure. His second group were those that were anarchists or revolutionaries, seeking to tear down the current establishment. The country's government had been in bed with the church for so long that it had intertwined with it. God's chosen country indeed. Lastly there was that small group of those small time occultists looking for some kind of road to power and to barter with demons. Taver knew a few rituals, and his newly awakened power would surely draw those sycophants to his side. Actions: Trying to find and recruit people to Taver's cause. He is looking for people to gather information for him, people to do basic legwork for him, and also for those that either have training or could be trained to fight. Action 1: Recruit informants or people to do some basic legwork: Lifetime of Knowledge [+2] seems like the best fit for this, as he does not plan to get too immediately close to them. Action 2: Recruit occultists, soldiers for hire or just plain anarchists: This time as he needs to get closer to them and have more influence and control he will use Living Weapon [+2], Lifetime of Knowledge [+2] and also Intimidating [+2] along with his apocalypse ability; Shadow Control [+2] This is a mix of coercion, demonstrations of physical power and occult power, and also a leave quickly card if he needs it.

Taver Einklassen - Pal’s Diner, Clefton Suburbs, Star City, Nu York, Federated States Taver needed to...think...on how to deal with children. It would be no use immediately terrifying them and then jeopardising himself when they ran to their parents. The idea of using his power initially as some kind of a game seemed almost insulting but he could accept that the children would need time to adjust. This left the adults. He was very interested in the Colonel, but it was was out of town. He tried to organise the meetup first but he found that despite being willing, the people he would seek to make his eyes and ears all had various inane reasons to delay it. Tavar managed to settle a date for everyone, but in the end his trip to the Colonel would come first. He did not trust the group, just as they likely did not trust him. Still the fact they were meeting in public meant that it was unlikely that they would attack him in public. But Taver did not trust easily in his second life, and he would ensure his safety. As he arrived in the town, he parked a block or two away from the pub and paused out of sight in an alley under the pretense of smoking. There he summoned two shadow clones, one humanoid and one in the shape of a raven. To the human he told him to stay out of sight and to find a way out, should things go bad. To the bird he told it to watch out for people spying on him or watching them from outside. Then he walked inside to meet the Colonel. Taver is securing his perimeter and making sure he has a way to leave. While he could use his shadow power in a pinch, he would rather not tip his supernatural hand just yet. He will use Shadow Control [+2] and also Lifetime of Knowledge [+2] and Living Weapon [+2] to create his two servants to watch the perimeter and also to locate an exit.

A bunch of fat pencil pushers who spout on about the effort our men and women serving put in, but when it comes to paying them or support for the injured or widowed? Suddenly the budget is just too slim, there's not enough money. There's always some excuse, some good reason that they can't give us the simple damned respect and support for us putting our lives on the line for them." "I've had enough of the rich and powerful enough using people like us and just discarding us when they think we're inconvenient or no longer useful. I've seen good men die so the lazy and stupid could continue to live lazily and stupid, and I've had enough." Taver continued passionately, remembering the loyal knights whose names and lives had been burned so that the king could avoid some debts that he had made. "We both know change is coming Colonel, I've seen the signs and I'm sure you have as well. I want to make sure I'm on the right side when it comes." Appealing to the Colonel's loyalty to the army and his distrust for authority. Taver shares these general ideas, so he would not need to fake it. He just needs to seem sincere and worthy enough to the Colonel to trust him. Living Weapon [+2] for the soldier's comradery and Lifetime of Knowledge [+2] to know how to talk to someone like the Colonel even though Taver's current incarnation is fairly young.

The creature dissipated into the air like ash in the wind. His shadowy simulacrum however he summoned back to him and it melded into his shadow on the wall. It was not necessary, he could have dismissed it as well, but there was a certain ritual and style to it that felt appropriate. Despite what the colonel might think, Taver would be in charge in time. A leader needed presence and pride, Baphoment could appreciate that. He considered things on his drive back. Taver would need to use the colonel's son, he was the key to winning over the colonel. He had the man's confidence and loyalty for now, but the man would probably baulk when he found out about Taver's true allegiances and abilities. His son was younger, more flexible and importantly more impressionable. Maybe in time the colonel's son would supplant him in Taver's schemes, maybe not. But either way, the son would be the key to influencing his father down the darker path. For the time being Taver took care of himself. He checked his correspondence, legal and ambiguously legal, and made sure he had groceries. He trained to keep up his fitness. And he thought about his next move. The first step would be to strike out at those con-men who brazenly used the church to steal and profit off of the masses. Of course the church was filled with con-men the higher you went, and it had become a corrupt and parasitical shell of its original teaching, but televangelists and those preachers who ran mega-churches was even more so. The naked greed for wealth was almost as shocking as the public's stupidity for falling for it. If god truly existed he had no need of a servant with three helicopters. In two days he met with those people who were just going to be his eyes and ears on the ground, to help him gather information more discretely. Taver knew that he would be being watched, his contact with the colonel would have likely been noted by someone after all. If he started scoping out the mansion of a televangelist then they would realise his plan sooner, and would no doubt move against him. But your everyday person who asked their friend about the church or the mansion behind it? No one would think much of them. At least at first anyway... Two days later Taver met with the group, and the meeting location was a karaoke bar. Meeting with a large amount of strangers would be difficult to avoid some kind of observation, so meeting indoors made sense. Meeting indoors in a closed room with lots of noise and a reputation for discrete meetings already made more sense. The particular venue he had chosen was known to have hosted criminal groups from East Asia before, or at least was known to have in certain circles. A party and alcohol were also good for getting people to open up, making them feel more camaraderie or at least revealing how trustworthy they might be (or if they were a plant only pretending to drink). Taver also noted with a kind of clinical detachment, that alcohol, drugs and parties were a traditional demonic sacrament as well. Action: meeting people at a karaoke bar to try and make surveillance and audio recording more difficult. Also he is trying to go for somewhere that is already used to discretion for other customers. Living Weapon [+2] to know about these kinds of underworld contacts and meetings, and also to try and fish out anyone trying to infiltrate him. In addition a Lifetime of Knowledge [+2] will help him get people to bond to him and to assist him. Total of [+4] His plan is basically to just get these people to do mundane observations and fact finding about his target before he scopes it out himself seriously.

It would be harder to get random people to suddenly want to take down an institution they don't care about. If you want to befriend strangers first then move them on to harder stuff then we can do that and your next post can just insert them now being your friends and you leading them down the path to hell. If you use the online group you can go straight to surveillance. This is meeting the online group. Because meeting a random group of people when you are almost certainly on a number of intelligence agency watch lists would raise interest, Taver is just trying to make it as hard to infiltrate and listen in as he can. That being said, he still expects that risk to come up, they are just random people he gathered from the internet after all. ------------------------------------------ While he did not notice any obvious agents, and could not find any obvious signs of surveillance that did not mean that there was none. But you always took risks, so Taver explained what they were doing. The mission for these people was simple. They just needed to keep an eye on the compound and the church. If they knew people who went there, then they should suddenly get interested and maybe go along for a sermon or two. Just keep you wallets tightly shut Taver commented, to laughter (some bitter) from the group. Do not go on consecutive days, do not linger for more than ten minutes, always have something to do there...basic stuff. Taver gave them advice on how to seem as innocuous as possible, although as a group of people he had gathered from online communities he had no illusions that anyone was going to be good at espionage. Authorities would notice, they just need to make sure that they noticed too late. Taver was careful not to mention what he planned to do personally, just mention that they were going to bring justice to this con man of a televangelist. The less they knew, the less trouble they could get in. He kept an eye on those that seem truly dedicated to the cause though and made a note for later. With the meeting done, he let the party finish and then left towards the end. He was not the last to leave, but he was definitely one of the last. Action: Taver is setting up the group to conduct surveillance by giving them strict and clear instructions on how to observe the compound. A bunch of people loitering will bring attention, so the rules minimise this and make it less obvious. The expectation is that intelligence and security officers will notice eventually, but to delay this until the operation. Using: Living Weapon [+2] Lifetime of Knowledge [+2]

Taver Einklassen - Compound of Reverend James Poctar II Taver considered contacting the Colonel, but decided against it. This target was not connected enough to the government, and it would also tip off people too fast and too early. This would be a solo operation, he and his shadows would be enough. He began outside, using a nearby high point to scope things out. A tree if one was available, but a hill or roof would also suffice. Taver could have used night-vision goggles, but decided to rely on his shadows instead. It was dark, and so they could effortlessly blend into shadows to scout for him. Taver chose one of the sides of the compound, not the rear or front, to make his entry. Once his shadow ravens found a point where he could enter, he would use his shadow powers to teleport step out from the shadows inside of the walls of the compound. He was armed lightly, bullet proof gear and a silenced pistol. By his side he had a facsimile of his Templar sword. Once inside the compound Taver would infiltrate further to find the reverend. Scouting out for a safe spot to shadow step into the compound. Once inside he will begin to search for our holy reverend. Taver Einklassen - Compound of Reverend James Poctar II He found the man despicable, but ultimately could not bring himself to hate him. The man was a product of the society, it was the fault of the church and the leaders of this age that allowed such a festering container of sin to walk around. Taver created more clones to subdue the bodyguards and men, 5 in total and sent them forwards as he entered the room. As he walked forward, his shadow clones moving forwards to subdue the bodyguards and extra figures Taver spoke. He felt confident that the conman before him never learned a word of Latin, but for Taver all of his sermons had been in that dead language. Taver was unsure which would be more disturbing to the man, to understand what he said or to not understand and see his shadowy servants and this young man, clearly a soldier and warrior advancing upon him. "So it was that the servants of the Lord that He had sent to Sodom found not even 10 Good men or women or children in that place. They bade Lot to flee for He planned to bring his judgement upon the den of sin, but forbade Lot and his family from looking back as the judgement of the Lord was mighty and terrible. As Lot and his family fled that city, Lot's wife disobeyed the words of the Lord and looked back as the city was bathed in fire and brimstone. She was turned to a pillar of salt, for the Word of the Lord is absolute." Should all go well, Taver would reach the televangelist before he spoke next. Otherwise he would rush into a defensive position ready to gun down the man's bodyguards before he turned to him. Trying to subdue the extra people in the room with his shadow clones and intimidate the 'reverend', but if it goes badly he will try to jump into a position to take down the bodyguards. As a reminder, my established weakness for the shadow clones are holy places or sanctified items (like holy water). Taver is assuming that given the nature of the corrupt televangelist that there could not possibly be anything like that in the compound. Taver Einklassen - Compound of Reverend James Poctar II Now Taver spoke English, although an accent tinged his words as his old life bled through more strongly than normal into this moment. "Judas? Nay, if anything I am more alike to the Son of the Lord. I was betrayed by those I served and trusted, murdered and finally...returned to life. But my heart was blackened from treachery and hate, and I saw the truth of our world. Your charade is over." With his other hand he took forth a sacrificial knife. He had never really done this before, and to be truthful Taver did not really know if his patron would care, if something else from the hells might take his offering, of if it was all a pointless charade. But Taver knew that the lords of chaos were hungry to become more, and they fed on the sins of men and women to do so. "Your soul will never reside with the lord, James Poctar. You have treated people like cattle, to fill your own greed and lust. Your sins are many, your depravity great. Oblivion is too good for you, and so there is only one place your immortal soul has left." Taver plunged the dagger into the man's chest, just as his shadow servants killed the others in the room. All save for the woman. But whereas the bodyguard and managers deaths were relatively quick, the false priest would linger in life long enough to hear Taver's next words. "Lord Baphomet, unto you do I offer these men. They are foul, blackened in sin and too heavy to ascend. I ask of you to grant me your strength and blessing in return for these fallen souls." Taver isn't a daemonologist so he would not know exactly if Baphomet wants or has use for the souls of sinners, but he is banking on there being a good chance for the demon to have some use for them. Because of this Taver doesn't know to ask for anything specific, but strength in his crusade, some kind of blasphemous knowledge or sorcery are all good. Or whatever Baphomet chooses to give him in return for this. As a side note, Taver intends to offer the girl a chance to join him to get revenge on the corrupt society, or a mercy killing. If she has just been exploited and needs the money because life is lovely and she has to make her way somehow, then him killing her should not keep her soul from heaven is his reasoning. Taver Einklassen - Compound of Reverend James Poctar II It was not rapturous, but the intensity of his patron's communication stunned Taver for a moment. It passed. He recovered himself and looked at the woman. In his past life he had been married and had a daughter, she was a little older but not much. Some might call it a moment of weakness, but Taver paused and spoke to her. "Even were you to promise not to speak, you would be taken by the authorities and speak in time. To see my purpose to its end, I can present you with only two choices." He relaxed a little, to try and seem a little less intimidating. "You can either join me in my crusade, and condemn your soul to hell but have vengeance on the church and the society that allowed this to happen. Or I will send you to our Lord Father. I will be quick and merciful, and even though it will be by a sinner's hand, your death will not block you from the heavens. It is not a crime to be forced to sell yourself to survive." No deliberate roll here. Taver does not want to persuade her either way, and does not know enough about her circumstances anyway. But even though Taver will probably kill many people 'on screen' as it were, and many, many more out of the narrative focus, I do not want to have him murder someone who may simply have been exploited for the jollies of it. They may be twisted, but Taver still has principles. If you want to roll this, apply Wrath [-2] as he is undoubtedly terrifying and insane to the poor woman.

Then quickly enough for her to not process what happens he pulls out his gun and shoots her through the head, killing her immediately. He stayed for a moment to offer a quick prayer for her, then went to make his exit. Shadow Control [+2] and Living Weapon [+2] to exit the compound without being seen.

Taver Einklassen - The Mountain-Lion Pub "Guess someone didn't like his sermons." Taver commented as though it was unrelated to him. He finished his meal and left. Rushing forwards to take advantage of the vision that Baphomet had shown him would me risky, he needed to give time for things to settle down. Even if he looked to be in the clear. Well that meant there was time to work on subverting the Colonel's milita into the inner fold. It would all begin with the Colonel's son, so Taver organised to do some personal training with him. Older men were less flexible in their thinking and Taver thought there was a good chance that the Colonel would break away if Taver were the one to introduce him to the occult. But if his son did it, bit by bit, then it would work better. The young man would be younger and more impressionable anyway, so Taver worked to build a bond and when the time was right...to introduce him and have him blessed by Baphomet. Working on indoctrinating the Colonel's son and bringing him into Taver's inner circle. Using Living Weapon [+2], Lifetime of Knowledge [+2] and Shadow Control [+2]. I don't think either drawback specifically apply here.

"Those in power make rules that suit themselves and those that support them. Sometimes those laws are good for the average folk, but even then most of the time the rules are better for them and their friends. Just look at the Bible. If god didn't want to make people suffer, why put the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden in the first place? Or why not warn Adam and Eve about the snake. So many words in it contradict others. Plus there's the way they talk about demons being bad, but then you have the 72 demons of Solomon who brought knowledge to humans that helped them. Sure, demons did bad things as well, but God also burned away Gomorrah in a pillar of flame, and unleashed the plagues upon Egypt. And Angels? They're just like the government. They don't really care about you, they're just doing their jobs. If that means taking you to heaven, well that's great. But that can also mean cutting you down with a flaming sword because you don't agree with god that you should stone your son to death because he thinks your neighbour's daughter looks pretty." He had been looking mostly into the fire as he spoke thoughtfully. "But you understand Davey. Just because someone is powerful doesn't make them good. And their enemies are not evil just because they are opposed. People tell all kinds of lies about your father and your friends, but you just want to give power back to those who had it stolen away. You know that televangelist on TV, James Proctor? The guy that kept taking people's money and telling them all kinds of lies so they would give him more money. I am the one that killed him, and I did it with the help of those that people would say are bad. Everything is a tool, and what you use it for is what matters the most. If you are want, I can help you to gain this power to, so that you can use it to help your father and other people." Taver summoned a shadow copy of himself, that went and put another piece of wood into the fire. "See? I can make them in the day as well, there is no silly shadow is evil because it isn't light rule here. While the shadows can hide murderers and corrupt dealings, they can also hide a mother and her child from someone trying to hurt them. Shadows aren't bad just because they're not light. If you aren't afraid, and you have an open mind to do what you need to, then I can show you more. Are you willing to help your father more than you could before?" Trying to induct Davey into the Lords of Chaos, using Living Weapon [+2] and Lifetime of Knowledge to appeal to his sense as a fighter and trying to help his dad and his cause. And of course, using Shadow Control [+2] as my Apocalypse ability, even though that does not necessarily need to be the same power that he gets if he accepts.

Taver Einklassen - The Mountain-Lion Pub "Tonight if you are ready." Taver smiled, but part of him was a little sad at how easy it seemed to seduce the boy. Yet at the same time this was for the best, the young adapted to change the best and the entire world was about to change. For a moment he wondered if he had been so easy to manipulate, for Baphomet to seduce and then suddenly he put the thought aside. Nothing productive would come from that line of thought. That was in the past, long ago and a literal lifetime ago. David was the son of a fighter, a man who was a blunt instrument to smite his enemies. He was enamoured with the power that Taver had, but a manipulator was not what the militia and his father needed. They needed a compatriot, a fellow soldier. So David showed him the brutal applications of his power, how best to use it to tear apart and fight your foes. And the boy took to it. The shadow purified him yes, but it consumed any innocence left in the young man and turned it into hot steel and cold bloodlust. Let's go with fighter. Taver can work on a caster elsewhere and it's easier to keep the militia focused on combat. Using Lifetime of Knowledge, Living Weapon and Intimidating for a total of [+6] to help mould David into a brutal human weapon of darkness. Also using my Shadow Control [+2] to help with David transformation.
