Min Min is deffo fun and different, but I feel like I can strictly use her in 3+ player smash. The distance you gotta keep from the opponent feels too specific to keep up at 1v1 for me

Can confirm that Min Min has a Fighter Spirit that's a different png image from her regular spirit. Not sure where its from though.

Can also confirm that you can't rematch against boss spirits. Boo.

if yggdrasil's altar couldn't get into any stage lists, there's actually no way any stage could have no matter how perfect it is. the stage list apparently cannot grow, it can only shrink.

Sometimes I forget she's got an extra jab, tilt, and smash attack instead of a traditional special move. I think she's got the craziest kit so far, which is really saying something.

I've been meaning to bring this up earlier, but the wildly divergent direction Min Min's moveset went in makes me wonder what they'll do for other ARMS characters if they ever add them. Also, Min Min, more than anyone else, is really making me wonder what characters added from 64 to Brawl would have turned out had they been added later.

Yeah, the moving while tilting thing is wild, I feel like there must be a lot of depth there but I'm pretty bad at this game so I feel like a dog trying to figure out a doorknob.

That's a lotta nice buffs out there.

But let's pour one out for our homie, Ike's n.Air:

Extended launch distance.
Reduced the low-damage range.

Or not, because maybe Ike mains will have to play a character and not a button now.

Pillbug

Kirby Stuff (self-tested, may be inaccurate):
  • Dash attack has, as far as I can tell by going frame-by frame, 8 frames shaved off its endlag. It now ends on frame 51, down from 59. Anecdotally it feels great to use now, almost like a longer-lasting DK roll. Big improvement.
  • Dsmash got 3 frames shaved off, it's now frame 7, down from 10. This combined with the knockback buff should make it a way better move.
  • I don't have the hard numbers for Stone but it definitely feels stronger, easily putting Mario past the top battlefield blastzone around 100% in training mode. I recall it feeling pretty anemic before, but this is all anecdotal without numbers.
  • I need hands-on time with fair and bair to make a judgement about their buffs, it's not immediately obvious to me in training mode.
Overall dash attack feels like the big winner for this batch. It used to be a move I avoided throwing out and cursed when it came out instead of ftilt but now I'm going to actually TRY to use it!

i think this sort of thing tells you when smash bros has nailed bringing a character over. always cool to see stuff translate from the original game

Turns out Mega Man experience translates pretty well to Min min.

Doesn't hurt when your Megabuster-esque f.air kills offstage at like 60% instead of just interrupting jump momentum.

Or when you can do a Smash version that at low percents combos into the second part of itself like the Dragon/Laser bit and kills basically whenever you land it offstage.

Yup. They especially nailed it with Mega Man, Ryu/Ken, Terry and Simon/Richter as well. Id like to see Ryu Hayabusa just to see how Sakurai would implement him.

Something I noticed while playing All Star Smash is that Hero now appears way earlier in the line-up. Before he was like 3rd last but now he appears at around the NES/SNES boundary. That might be when the 3rd Dragon Quest game came out.

My wife mains Ike and we were playing online tonight and she was insanely thrilled by the rest of the changes, so it's not that big a deal. The buffs to F-Air, Dash Attack and especially Aether more than made-up for it. Three-quarters of her KOs tonight came from Aethers, it kills pretty reliably in the 100-120% range from a flat, stage, way lower on a Battlefield platform.

Yeah, they moved him to right after Mega Man, since Dragon Quest 3 came out in early 1988, the earliest Dragon Quest that one of his skins comes from. His original position, next to last, reflected his primary skin as the main character of the most recent DQ game- the newest character in the game after Byleth with Dragon Quest XI coming out in the back half of 2017.

They should have changed Erdrick to the default as well. He has the coolest most classic design even though I am loving 11.
