Personally the only feature that I find myself really missing is boss rush. This game has about as many bosses as brawl but no way to consistently fight them aside from classic mode on certain characters.

With my latest world of light runthrough Adam Malkovitch has killed himself with c4 every single time. It's at the point where it feels like the game is aware that Other M was poo poo and is trying to tell me.

Of course we know one of the new DLC characters is going to be a Square one and the only other character I can think of that is Cloud-tier without basically being Cloud is Chrono and fat chance in hell of that happening. Square won't even put in any FF spirits or more than 2 FF tracks.

Neutral like that is kind of like rock paper scissors tbh and you need to be able to read your opponent and try to figure out what they're going to do next so you can counter if they attack, shield and punish (grab is the most common out of shield punish) if they grab, dodge and punish if they roll or dodge, attack and punish this is obviously horribly oversimplified but it's one of the reasons why part of getting good at smash is just playing it so much that you can intuitively read your average opponent

I recommend playing whatever character you want because any character can become good if you play them enough. Basic rules are applicable to every character.

Good Zeldas realize that they have really good aerials and learn to short hop out of shield to punish. She is strongest at range but that doesn't make her helpless if she isn't and lots of online players aren't sure what to do when confronted by a close-range Zelda who doesn't immediately run or simply fold.

I'm a giant fraud who loses repeatedly yet my roster GSP remains the same, which is a problem because it means whenever I want to take a new character online my first battle is always against some tournament level grognard playing for keeps I suspect that the key is what maps I set my preferences to. If you pick battlefield or fd you're more likely to be matched with hardcore folks because they're more likely to pick one of those two configurations. I personally have decided to stick with hazards off even though the game's definition of what constitutes a "hazard" is dumb as hell. Hazards off for the pac-man autoscroller for example only changes the fire hydrants which no longer will spray water. You still have to navigate through an autoscrolling mspaint town with no clear perspective half the time

One thing I'd like to mention for World of Light is that the Mysterious Dimension is genuinely more unsettling to me than any horror game I've played in recent memory and it's pretty impressive how it does that by just being a glorified board game. R.O.B. being found in the dump hit home

But I'm slowly discovering that now maybe it's not the best thing to use willy nilly. That's fine because it means you're getting better enough to be matched with players who will force you to adjust your playstyle to close weaknesses you weren't aware of before. For me this was when I got to a certain GSP as Link where I started to get creamed until I learned how to use my remote bombs.
