Yeah, hitting up Goodwills is the way to go for cheap frames. Since you can't control what kinda frame dimensions you'll find, I'd recommend taking a piece of scrap paper that's the same size as your painting and sketching a rough approximation of your painting onto it. That way you'll have a good visual idea of how big a frame you'll need, and how much margin space you can afford to either trim or have hidden beneath the matting.
