Let's get abstract here. When the game starts I know I'm town (for the sake of this argument let's assume I am).
13 other players in the game, I'm assuming 3 scum (Last game I was in was 3 scum out of 13 players total). At the very beginning of the game, with zero information to go on, the chance for each player to be scum, in my head, is 23%. When a player does something I read as town, that chance goes down, and when they do something I read as scummy, it goes up.

Back to my previous ranking.

So, (and I'm pulling numbers entirely out of my rear end here), maybe my read on moat is like 33% chance to be scum, CCKeane 31%, Anarc 26% and merk 26%. (For the record: no, I don't think with ludicrous and stupid numbers in my head. It's fuzzy logic and a judgment call). The fact that Anarc and merk are in a slight conflict (which may even not be a real conflict if they're both scum) has no relevance to the matter. They've both done very slightly scummy things, so in my mind I bumped their percentages up, and they happen to "measure up" to about the same "scum level" in my head. Ergo I rank them about the same, and I would feel dishonest if I genuinely claimed to rank one above the other.

If one of Merk or Anon was town, what would you think of the other?
