A bunch of Vader matches that aren't on NJ World...

New Japan
vs Choshu, June 27, 1989. VIOLENCE~
http://theditch.us/VaderVsChoshu6-27-89.avi

vs Hashimoto, July 19, 1991. The building doesn't have AC so it's really hot, which makes this a bit sluggish at times. But good lord is it stiff.

vs Mutoh, G-1 1991. Why wasn't this taped?! Watchable handheld version of a *really* good match.

vs Misawa, October 30, 1999. Rematch!

w/ Johnny Smith vs Misawa & Ogawa, Tag League '99. Good match, worth it just for Vader murdering Ogawa.

vs Akiyama, January 23, 2000. Vader defends the Triple Crown.

That show was a WILD mix of Russo-esque on-the-fly booking, an old-school crowd seeing said booking coming and crapping on it, and legit confusion among the wrestlers about what was going on. From a booking perspective this might be the most fascinating show in the history of Japanese wrestling.

Was it vader that accidentally tore off mick foley's ear?
It was vs Vader, but IIRC the real culprit was the ring ropes.

Gavok posted:

There was a mysterious masked villain guy named the Ghoul who at first turned out to be Rick Rude (based on that time he was the Halloween Phantom), but then they revealed it was a fakeout and the Ghoul was someone else. At the end of the story, he claimed to be Sting's old trainer who sold his soul to the dark arts to make himself stronger than ever. Sting didn't believe him, tried to unmask him, the lights went out and the Ghoul vanished.
The main storyline was convoluted, confusing, and had no real payoff? At least it was consistent with the source material.

Vader vs Foley on those two April '93 shows are so incredibly brutal.

Another Vader match worth a watch is the Superbrawl '95 main event vs Hogan, where Vader has the best kayfabe showing against prime babyface Hogan of anyone other than Warrior. Includes:
-Vader no-selling a Hogan chairshot
-Vader kicking out of the legdrop with authority (had anyone done that previously?)
-Hogan winning by DQ but not having decisive control at the time

Hogan seemed in much more peril than he did in typical formula bouts because Vader's offense was just miles ahead of '80s WWF monster heels.
