Who'd you take over him? I don't see anyone else clearly better. He might be the most skilled guy in the draft other than maybe Luca from a dribble/pass/shoot perspective which gives him a pretty high ceiling

Bamba, perhaps?

I like Bamba a lot but there's a super low floor there. Trae seems like he'll be able to contribute something with his shooting and passing even if he's not a star, and it's not super hard to imagine a world where he's Steve Nash

Yeah. Best defensive player in the draft, hits 3s at almost 7 feet tall, and isn't even 19 yet.

And hits 3s in game, not like Bamba being guarded by a chair

Is bagley bad?

He's not bad but he's deeply flawed. He might get 20 and 10 because he's super athletic, smooth, and plays hard but he can't defend at all, has an iffy jumper, and can't finish with his right hand.

He's not like, notably slow for a center, right? Just a guy who might not be able to stay on the floor if a team can exploit him in switches

It seems like he knows that's his biggest weakness. He's slimmed down but there's probably not all that much you can do to make up for a lack of natural lateral quickness

I think by modern standards yeah he's pretty slow but I agree it's not necessarily impossible to overcome

How does a JJJ-Gobert paring work?

Why wouldn't it? They play him with Favors now, Jaren is way more versatile. He can shoot and he guards smaller guys well. Can play backup 5 too of they stagger them or the other team goes small.

I don't see how it happens though, utah doesn't have any great assets to give back that they'd be willing to trade
