Much like Pokemon, exploiting weaknesses is a big thing in SOTN. Some things are strong against swords but weak against maces or vice versa, and elemental weaknesses are sure a thing that exists. Now that your weapon options are expanding beyond "sword", "slower, heavier sword" and "crappy sword", you may find yourself switching away from the venerable shield rod. And since the only things you can sell are jeweled rings, you'll always have these attacks available, on the off chance you want to try Basilarding a boss to death.

This has been enjoyable to watch throughout most of your whole run (That Doppelganger fight was painful but I look forward to the next one), but now that you've gotten some core competency the entertainment value is rising.

Also, talking about this LP with my friends has reminded me this exists.

I want to be helpful and gently guiding, but I don't know if this constitutes a spoiler: You've figured out the command for the Shield Rod bloop thingie. You may have other things on you that respond to commands of a similar nature.

There is a solution to the mystery of the water. Having seen the way you've been attacking this so far, I'm positive that if left at your own devices, it will remain a mystery forever.

Yeeeah, if I remember my own first playthrough Natural 20's not going to be in a position to notice the odd section of breakable floor anymore. Unless he gets lucky in the Reverse Castle, and it's highly likely he won't get there without prompting, either.

Subweapon chat: I loved the rebound stone right up until I found the Agunea.

Actual weapon chat: Two-handed swords aren't bad. The lack of a shield doesn't have much impact when you're not actively using the shield anyway.

Boot chat: The Secret Boots actually resize Alucard's sprite by a few pixels. They don't add anything, it's literally just like stretching it in photoshop.

Cool, your statement is making me feel bad about not being able to immediately edit my post four hours before I woke up this morning. And you haven't qualified it, either, so it's making me grumpy that I'm being told something without evidence. You've hit an anxiety and a pet peeve, wanna try and guess a kink, go for the trifecta?

Those two skeletons did more damage to you than the succubus did.

Doesn't look like it's posted yet, but it out on youtube so... You monster. All of those candles and you didn't even bother collecting the last one. You knew it was pointless and you persisted! :argh:

Personally I'm just irrationally irritated that he shifted out of bat form and swatted the candles rather than shooting them with his brand new fireballs.

Let's talk familiars. There will be two sets of spoilers here, the basic functions, which are safe enough to see because you've already seen 90% of them, and the advanced functionality that comes with level. In general, each familiar does their thing faster and more effectively the higher level it is.

Fairy: Uses medicine from your inventory. If you're hit with an elemental damage, will use a resistance potion. Uses potions when you're low on HP, uses life apples when you die. It's worth getting petrified with her out just to see the animation.
At higher levels I actually don't know if she does anything significantly different, but I'm putting "detects secret walls" here because that is very much a more significant spoiler.

Bat: Swoops in to attack. Copies your fireballs when in bat form.
At higher levels More bats appear when in bat form, these also shoot fireballs.

Demon: Stabs enemies, pushes a single switch.
At higher levels Will sometimes use a flurry of stabs or enchant his spear with fire.

Ghost: Anti-air specialist. Locks onto flying enemies and hits them repeatedly. Turning into a bat confuses it and makes it leave.
At higher levels :iiam: the rest of this sentence is padding.

I could swear that the sword forged by elves I found on that platform in the PS1 version was not named Luminus. Maybe it was a Tolkien reference that got scrubbed for whatever rerelease you're playing, or I'm just a big dumb with swiss cheese for a brain.

Most of the time, the straight defense of the Walk Armor is going to be better than any elemental mail. There are a few bosses or areas that could benefit from specializing, though. Richter, for instance, is less of a headache with Holy Mail on.

I think basically everyone will agree that you should go back and see what's in that secret in Upright Olrox's Quarters. Cut out the travel if you think it's too boring, but the reward is worth the trip.

If "game bad" is a controversial opinion on Dark Souls then I'm <insert current controversial pundit here> :colbert:

I half-joke, the game is obviously not for me and I appreciate that games exist for those who play games for other reasons than I do. It's just I already own a hammer if I want to hit my nuts with it.
