Thought I'd flesh out my earlier plan a little more. We need some weapons we leave in the cars (or eventually boats, half-tracks, planes, whatever), full-time. We get stuck-in during an operation, we'll have a rolling mini-arsenal to draw from. Why do we need this? One, stuff breaks and jams, so people need spares. Two, we might have to arm allies or some extra muscle.Three, people forget to bring stuff on missions. If it hadn't been for lucky breaks, we'd have stormed that farmhouse with only two automatic weapons. With car guns, we've got loaner guns people can grab. I figure we'd ought to get enough guns and other kit to outfit two cars. The carbines should be ideal for this purpose. Folding stocks and short barrel length for firing out of the car. Long enough range to be useful in most situations. Automatic fire option for room-clearing and close-in fighting. 2x M1918 BARs converted to Colt Monitors with 12 spare 20-round mags ($3600 + $???) 8x M2 Carbines with M1A1-style folding stocks with 16 spare 30-round mags ($6400 + $800) 2x Remington Model 29 with beanbag rounds for riot control ($1100) 4x Panzerfaust 60 ($???) 8x Mk. 2 Frag grenades ($1120) 2x M15 White Phosphorous grenades for destroying the car, if needed ($560) 4x M7A3 Tear Gas grenades ($120) 4x M18 Smoke Grenade ($160) 2x M37 Demolition kit/satchel charges ($640) 2x First aid kits ($???) 2x Sledgehammers ($???) Total = $8,100 + ??? This gear lets us do close-range fighting, long-range fighting, anti-tank warfare, riot control, break-ins, and demolitions, as needed. chitoryu12 posted:Total Income: $590,000 Can I spend some of that sweet, sweet dough on this? -1x M1 carbine converted to full-auto and cut down to look something like this, with a top-folder stock ($800 + $???) -1x replacement baffle silencer for the Thompson ($500?) -1x trigger job for the Browning Hi-Power ($???) -1x threaded barrel for for the Browning Hi-Power ($???) -1x baffle silencer for the Browning Hi-Power ($???) -1x silk vest body armor ($???) -10x Mk. 2 Frag grenades ($700) -5x M7A3 Tear Gas grenades ($150) -5x M18 Smoke Grenade: ($200) -10x No. 76 Grenades (or similar self-igniting petrol bombs) with a padded metal carrying case) ($???) -10x Gammon Bombs with 900 grams of Comp C filler and some ball bearings for a frag option ($???) -2x M37 Demolition Kits/satchel charges ($640) -5x No. 73 Grenades painted up to look like thermos bottles ($???) -10x Hawkins mines (or M7 mines) ($???) We have the Office now so everything should be 25% cheaper. We Definetly Need To Get; Command Center (6 units, $400,000, $8000 a month), for the additonal chance of NPC mission success. Two-Story Barracks (Large) (12 units, $210,000, $100 a month), so we can expand our operation successively and actually feed everyone. Dirt Runway (30 units, $100,000, $40 a month), because 4 of us are pilots and it's about drat time they got to do pilot things. We Should Probably Get Now Or Soonish; Infirmary (4 units, $100,000, $400 a month), because Rupert got shot on the Special Op and our Soliders are dying. Healing is going to be necessary in the future and the extra morale is useful. Kill House (6 units, $80,000, $400 a month), again to improve the abilities of our soldiers, but also because a good part of PC improvement is how they spend their time on their off hours. A Kill House is going to get our PC's better, faster. One of the other Morale Buildings; better rolls, better success, more money. Gourmet Rations, because Rupert is not eating this swill any more. That's around a million before applying the 25% off. That gives plenty left over to keep us operation for a few months, to pick up some more equipment, some more soliders and a starter plane.

Kamran "Cameron" Rajavi Kamran has written a reminder to himself, and he sees it every time he opens the footlocker: "GET PERSIAN SPICES FOR BASE MESS HALL" After last month's unfortunate purchasing desisions, he has added: "GET ****** MESS HALL" And now he wants to make good on it. My building purchase proposal for this month is as follows: Two-Story Barracks (Large) (12 units, $210,000, $100 a month) Infirmary (evolution from Quonset hut!) (2 units, $60,000, $385 a month) (Sell off Quonset Huts, +2 units, +8,500 ) Dirt Runway (30 units, $100,000, $40 a month) Movie Theatre (2 units, $90,000, $500 a month) Machine Shop (3 units, $80,000, $300 a month) Kill House (6 units, $80,000, $400 a month) (Reclaim Outdoor Firing Range, +5 units, $1500) Ammo Workshop (2 units, $50,000, $500 a month) Gourmet Rations ($300 per person per month) Replacement Boat Driver ($1000, $1,000 per month) As is, this comes out to 50 units, 660,000 up front, and 3,540 a month. However, recalling that we have an office, and thus cut all costs by 25%, the final cost is actually 50 units, 495,000 up front, and a monthly cost of 2,655 a month, along with the cost of the replacement soldier, which is reckoned independently. This will give us plenty of money to purchase aircraft for our pilots. Davin Valkri fucked around with this message at 03:01 on Aug 8, 2018 |

Agree with Tunicate These purchases will give us the up front cost for most of the infrastructure we need as mercenaries - basic facilities to use and expand from, to generally keep the personnel cheery and trained up.

The difference between the two is just the hangar and the command center. Each is 300k after discount. Here's the mechanics again: Hangar: Capacity of 3 small aircraft or 1 bomber/transport. +2 to Maintenance checks. Command Center: +4 on all rolls to determine success of mercenary operations. If we buy neither we have $838,483 left over. The current fighters available are • Bell P-77: $300,000 • Boeing P-12: $165,000 • Curtiss P-31 Swift: $250,000 • Grumman F4F Wildcat: $480,000 • North American P-64: $320,000 The only bomber we can afford is • Grumman TBF Avenger: $790,000 And the only Military Helicopter is • Sikorsky YR-5A: $250,000 We also have the previously purchased equipment. So... what do the pilots want?

Did you remember to account for the 25% discount of the Office on those prices? Also, IIRC, the prices given are the "normal", not-Great Lakes ones, so we might even buy them at 37.5 cents on the dollar. It's not clear.

Here’s a question for you. What kind of army are we building? Instead of blowing cash on random things, we should be working towards some kind of end goal. Then, every building we build, every soldier we hire, and weapon we buy can be chosen because it helps us reach that goal. When it comes to aircraft, I think they need to geared towards close air support and winning local control of the air. To that end, I suggest we get an attack bomber and two fighters that can escort it. Airpower 2x P-51D Mustang ($405,000) – decent dogfighters, can carry up to 2,000lb of bombs or six HVAR rockets for ground attack. 1x Bomber to be Named Later – ideally, something like the A-26 A-20G Havoc (6x .50 nose guns, 4,000lb of bombs) or the B-25J with the strafer nose (14x forward firing .50 nose guns, 3,000 lb of bombs or eight HVAR rockets) or the A-26B (8x .50 nose guns, 4,000-6,000 bombs or ten HVAR rockets) ---- Obviously, planes cannot win a war on their own. We need soldiers. Here are some platoon-strength units we can field. We might not be able to buy this stuff all at once. It’s an overall goal to work towards. I’ve gotten some help from on kf the more literate boatmen and he's factored in the 50% Great Lakes bonus and the 25% office bonus. Blame him if tha littele numbers are wrong ---- Cavalry Troop – With two M8 Greyhounds and two halftracks, we already have the makings of an armored cavalry force. We recruit Tank Drivers and Soldiers. American soldiers are more familiar with vehicles than most, so I’d rather hire them. Buy halftracks and tank destroyers. Just like the Americans Task Force A did in Patton’s race across France, we use the speed of the halftracks, the firepower of the tank destroyers, and the flexibility of the infantry to punch above our weigh. Build the Garage and Machine Shop to maintain the vehicles. Pro: Good firepower, excellent mobility, adequate protection, good scouting capability, good firepower-to-cost ratio Con: Open-topped light vehicles vulnerable in urban areas, needs roads to be most effective, may struggle against heavier armored forces 2x M18 Hellcat ($397,500) 2 M3 Half Track ($11,250) 1x M3 Scout Car ($4,500) – gives the Demomen an armored ride and a way to carry the 57mm recoilless rifles 4x M79 (40mm) ($1,800) 4x Bazooka (M6 Rockets) ($6,000) 4x T52E3 (.30-06) ($3,750) 36x Great Lakes Soldiers ($25,200) – with the Expats and Boatmen (14 total) in one halftrack, 12 Soldiers for the other three halftracks 4x Factory Workers ($400) – to drive the halftracks 10x Tank Drivers ($8,000) – to crew the M18 Hellcats Total = $450,400 ---- Armored Platoon – Along with the ten Tank Drivers we already have, we recruit more Tankers and Soldiers and buy more medium/heavy tanks. The infantry fight desant style and ride into battle on the tanks, just like the doughs did in 1945. Or, the M3 can also carry about 10 troops inside. The tanks will outgun virtually everything they face. The Lees are a little thin-skinned on their own, so they need the Jumbos to stiffen them up. Build the Garage and Machine Shop to maintain the tanks. Pro: Excellent firepower, good protection, good mobility Con: Extremely expensive, puts all eggs in a few baskets, limited infantry numbers, tanks vulnerable in urban areas, less-useful on low-threat missions. 2x M4A3E2 Sherman “Jumbo” ($562,500) 2x M3 Lee ($337,500) – doubles as transport, carries up to 10 light-armed troops 24x Tank Drivers ($19,200) – to crew the M3 and the Jumbo 10x Great Lakes Soldiers ($7,000) Total = $926,200 ---- Air Cav Platoon – We’ve already got two helicopters and we could build an airmobile force around a few more. Buy some Bell 47s as armed scout helicopters (with two M1919 .30 cals), some H-5s as transports, and some H-5s as dedicated attack aircraft. Since helicopters have limited capacity (the H-5 only carries three passengers), we have to even the odds by recruiting desperate, crack soldiers and arming them to the teeth. Every three-man team with have an MG, a grenade launcher and an assault rifle. Some bazookas for AT work. The scouts find the target, the transports shuttle troops into position, and the Greyhounds and halftracks move in to help finish the job. Call it a “Fireforce,” if you like. Build the Hangar and Machine Shop to maintain the helos. Pro: Extremely mobile, not limited by terrain, excellent scouting capability, cheap. Cons: Reliant on attack aircraft for firepower, heliborne infantry lack staying power (can’t take many causalities, limited ammo), vulnerable to armor, extremely vulnerable to AA, unable to operate in bad weather. 1x Bell 47 ($52,500) 2x Sikorsky YR-5A ($187,500) 3x M1 Bazooka (M6 Rockets) ($4,500) 4x Browning M1919A4 (.30-06) ($3,000) – two each for the Bell 47s 9x M79 (40mm) ($4,050) 9x T52E3 (.30-06): ($8,438) 9x T48 rifles (.30-06) ($5,400) 27x Expatriate French Soldiers ($40,500)– nine three-man teams shuttled in by YR-5A 5x Helicopter Pilots ($8,500) Total = $314,388 ---- Marine Platoon– We create a ~40 man infantry platoon. Mount them in DUKWs to give them some amphibious capability and more mobility. Pro: Cheap, extremely flexible, well-suited for low-threat and/or urban operations, infantry able to fight on broken ground, good in urban fighting, amphibious. Con: Vulnerable to armor and air attack, speed limited off-road. 2x DUKW ($22,500) – mount the spare .50 cals on each DUKW 3x M79 (40mm) ($1,800) 3x Bazooka (M6 Rockets) ($4,500) 3x T52E3 (.30-06) ($2,813) 30x Great Lakes Soldiers ($90,000) Total = $121,613 Bacarruda fucked around with this message at 11:07 on Aug 9, 2018 |

Removing the remaining Quonset hut and Outdoor Firing Range give you back $10,000 and removes $120 a month. The total space taken up is now 66/100 units. The current month's wages and upkeep have been taken out, so your current bank account total is $852,983 for hiring soldiers and purchasing equipment. Your new monthly cost for the coming month is $130,575.

August 4th, 1955 Current Weather: 99 degrees Fahrenheit. Sunny. Nobody wants the heat to die down more than the troops in the kill house. The ventilation system helps suck out the fumes, but it doesn't do much for the temperature. Everyone comes out covered in sweat just from standing there for half an hour, to say nothing of the men making runs through it. The air is filled with the metallic smell of gunsmoke and echoing BANGs from semi-auto carbine fire. The big payoff suggests we’re going to be doing something pretty drat difficult. We're also going to need some muscle. Shooting, driving, and all the other combat skills will be useful, I'm sure. And we'll want at least one pilot to give us air support. People may want to get some body armor. It saved Rupert's rear end last time, who knows who it will save this time? We're going to need more firepower, too. Since we're probably going to be outnumbered, I’d suggest we get silent weapons (blowpipes, silenced SMGs, etc.) for sneaky operations. And when things kick off, we could face guys with body armor, some assault rifles and a light machine gun might come in order. I might bring along a Bazooka or Panzerfaust and some grenades to deal with vehicles and buildings. These people haven't gone on a mission yet, so they'll obviously be first in line for this one.

Kang will drive everyone to New York. If there's a spot on the special op, he will go along. If not, he'll ride along on the tanker op.
