We could play all the servers and pick a different realm for each. Not like leveling takes that long on these.

I am sort of curious how no spellcrafting and stealthers would go. But, I still really want to play an assassin or archer from some server launch.
I think I ran with you last time I tried playing. I can't remember if it was live or a freeshard. I think you were a warden and I was a hero? I'm not sure a stealth class is right for me, but I'd probably be down with playing the same realm as you.

I think I'd want to choose a class that is okay for some PvE stuff, because I have always had a soft spot for the lovely PvE in this game. On these servers would that still generally mean Pet, Tank, or Buffing/Healing class?

Hey dude. It has been a minute, but yes we played some hibs last time. I'd be glad to play with you again. Let's see how all these freeshards shake out this year. I'll surely play a visible class of some sort. Was eyeing both mid and alb this time.

As far as PVE, there are a lot of classes that can do both PVE and RVR well. Melee, healers, and most casters, as far as grouping goes.

I always play Minst, hard for me not to. I have recently decided that I will no longer be playing a paladin because I do not want to twist ever again. Friar for sure. Then some sort of dwarf on Midgard. Undecided on class.

If you want to know how stable atlas has been just look at the server feed channel on the discord and try counting the "server is up!" messages and the time between them.

I tried to like the server. I really did.

i'm a career VW and i rolled an instant50 one on Atlas. It's unplayable. they have the old style chains in place which means a 3-style for your sidechain (the most important one you have), a 3style for your parry chain and a 4style for your evade.

The style revamp cut everything down to 2-style chains and it's actually usable with that, plus they added AoE (and if you spec right, PBAoE) disease which makes it super super useful in big fights. And this is where i again exhort people to play on eden, where that's all in place.

I'm down to play Cleric or Cabalist on Alb, Mentalist/BM on Hib, Shaman/SM/Healer on Midgard, whatever server.

Probably will try to get Shaman/SM/Cleric going for 8mans first.

Dudes in 8man discord said Eden is going to be catering more to the RvR zergs/solos & small mans. Why that is I couldn't tell you but based on what Phoenix is doing with the voting options for carrying over all characters & RP levels potentially I definitely want to get started with Eden and see how server goes.

I think Phoenix is worried about competing with other servers already open and that's why they're considering not having a fresh restart and letting people vote to carry characters over, which is a big mistake in my opinion.

That sentiment is odd at best, imo. They're giving attention to small man and keep taking instead of trying to funnel literally everyone into eight-mans. I guess that's not what they want but the decline of the servers is usually around a few eight mans being so far ahead nobody wants to play, plus there being no advancement outside of it. I thought old eden did a great job of giving eight mans a place and supporting more fights while also giving small man players something to do. I can't imagine Phoenix surviving if it just careers to eights.

Just a few more days till Eden alpha!

* Alpha level cap is 24
* They want people to report any and all weirdness/bugs
* No artifacts or MLs
* Champ levels will be in, CL10 max
* RP caps (you still earn but you won't skyrocket up in actual RR past everybody else) that raise over time, and seasons when pop drops
* Regular, SI and ToA zones for pve
* Lots of focus on dungeon crawling
* One account per player, phoenix-style. No bots. buff pots will be available at yellow tier

Yeah i'll be messing around. got a few friends rolling there come launch, some going to make alpha chars with me. Apparently alpha chars will persist into beta for the 1-50 test. We are currently leaning towards Albion, just to try something new since this group has either always been hib or mid.

Rocky but pretty stable. I was actually hoping for something more like the Phoenix leveling event, but zerg is to be expected when ninety percent of the population is in two BGs. I think their Rog changes are gonna get rolled back, the gear is incredibly random to be so rare. I know they've got some deterministic systems coming but it should probably be fast and furious in levels lower than thirty since you blow through it so fast.

All that being said, just nothing like daoc pvp to this day. Put it directly in my veins.

midgard support classes are insanely loving intense to play and the healer gets screamed at every single fight, so only competitive 8v8ers can tolerate it. Mid can run some insane configurations but they don't do well with random bullshit pickup group type lineups

we ran for months on alb celestius, had a really amazing month on hib, then tried mid and literally quit after four days because there's no cohesion and everybody there just wants to run their little gank group

CopperHound
Feb 14, 2012

Yeah, healer can be super fun and intense, but it is way too much pressure when I just want to gently caress around. It is too much utility to load into one class. I want to CC or heal not CC and heal.

Happy to report Eden feels really really good so far. Haven't had any major weird things/lag/dcs/annoyances really. Very stable. Up to 34 on my minstrel, mostly all pvp. Do the quest to get the end regen mythirian though.

Still can't train while moving in 2022, though.

It isn't live yet, but I can't recommend it enough if you don't mind New Frontiers. Right now it's only BG and pve testing with a level cap.

Edit: relevant to the above discussion on Mid. I think the problem with Mid (for people who aren't well connected to good players) is pac healer is too hard AND your groups success kind of relies on that dude being at least decent/kinda good. This makes pugging on mid a pain too. No point in pugging unless you believe in the PAC in the group. Seems like a lot of the time the go-to mid pugs are built by a pac healer or they use the same 2-3 every time.

I like playing healers in PvP games and I also like Mid the most so usually my first leveled character is Healer, but anxiety of being dogshyt in the hyper-competitive 8v8 community prevented me from ever actually 8man'ing. That and not actually knowing anyone in that community.

Shaman might be the class I level first this time on Mid.

You can always be an aug healer! Every mid tank group needs one. Really every mid group probably wants one. My buddy loves playing that class and isn't keen on PAC.

Shamans rock though if you wanna be an annoying rupt machine in rvr there probably no better class besides Minstrel.

Aug healer and basically any spec of shaman (given that shears are a thing here) are awesome and fun to play.

Pac will turn you into an alcoholic that spins a revolver cylinder in between runs.

I love mid, don't get me wrong. The most fun we ever had was when we rolled mid on the old Mythic classic servers. But good god, if even one person in your group sucks, you're at risk, and if one of the support classes is it, you're dead.

Eden takes so far

* hastener bots pls
* buffbots pls
* wilton and braemar are both a lot better than i remembered. probably because on live there were like 1-3 enemies on average when i visited there
* the admins are being super receptive to feedback and things have already noticeably improved since last weekend
* my whole guild is really excited and we're doing everything we can to support. We are legit having a ton of fun.
* Right now we set guild taxes at 50% and are feeding our crafters and they can yeet out any SC'd poo poo we want it rules. Socialism Works
* wilton (the 30-34 bg) is heavily centered on: are you an animist, or are you a theurgist. Seriously all of our fights tonight were me (i'm playing ani now) versus the theurgists. You could see the tide of the fight turn easily when one of us or the other got out more pets. It's a lot of fun tbh. Side note: Did I mention i love pine trees

Eden Status: Poppin'

Level cap is 44 right now. PVE mounts are in. And they added a /use2 on the bind stone that opens a TWO-WAY teleporter from wherever you're standing to your bind point. It only works in pve zones but it's AMAZING. I am playing a minny so whenever we want to go level or farm, I just bind in camelot, speed6 to the camp, open a port and everybody can take it straight from cammy to where i spawned it. It makes things SOOOO easy now. And since it's two-way you can pop it, go to cammy to sell/vault your poo poo real quick, and come right back out.

come play m'lord

I'm not sure how they tweaked itemization, but thankfully there are stats other than resists on gear now. Unfortunately 80% of it seems targeted for nightshades.

DF open at all times is leading to some interesting pvp. Being able to able to use LoS outside of keeps is a nice dynamic to have sometimes, but even as a hib, I gotta say no second los check on shrooms is pretty lol broke.

Wardens are very cool at this patch level and once you are out in RVR the only melee anybody will expect you to do is Slam and the side snare at 10 blades. Rest of the time you'll be healing, curing nearsight/disease, dropping twf and when you get a couple champion levels, assisting the DPS train with single target disease (which is huuuuugely strong)

CopperHound
Feb 14, 2012

Oh right slam almost forgot. Does that mean I shouldn't make my target spec 44reg/49nurt/10blade/23sheild/whatever parry?
