OK, so I've been doing some Internet Researching regarding Maggia Crystals, and here's what I've found.

* Putting points into Elemental Attack gets you 0.1% per level, with a max of 10% at Level 100. It stacks additively, as follows: (Field + Attack + Equip + Elemenetal Boost + Elemental Break + Magia Elemental Attack)
* Putting points into Elemental Defense gets you 1% per 10 levels, with a max of 10% at Level 100. It does NOT stack; the highest value is what's used. (It's 1%/10 Levels instead of 0.1%/Level because it doesn't apply partial percents)
* You can use Maggia Elemental Defense to offset things like the Gigas Armlet making you weak to Water. 1% Water Defense is apparently enough to do it.
* Putting points into HP gets you +5 HP per level, with a max of +500 HP at Level 100.
* Everything else gets you +1 per level, with a max of +100 at Level 100.
* You can max all crystals, but it will take a total of 30,899 battles to do so.
* The best place to farm is Fabul Castle.
* The best way to farm quickly is to have Record Materia that will attack all enemies at once; ones like Master Ninja, Divine Fists, Capricious Pugilist, Earthen Blade, God Among Men, Reborn Zeal, Omnicast Fire, and Omnicast Direflame (obtained from Ninja, Yda, Yda, Spellblade, Orlandeau, Strago, Black Mage, and Black Mage, respectivly). There are, of course, others.

So with the way I'm reading this, wouldn't focusing on ATK/MAG/MND first followed by HP (?) basically give you the biggest bang for your buck assuming you didn't want to spend endless hours farming? It seems like 100 in a primary stat would easily overshadow an extra 500 hp in pretty much every case, and would be WAY better than upping resistances by a pretty much insignificant amount.

Checking with the thread to try and avoid any major headaches that would be caused by just spending them willy-nilly.

Ah. That's certainly good to know. Figured it was a permanent thing since that's how most of these things in this game work.

it seemed like a good idea at the time
I'd much rather have 500 HP than 100 MND on healers (just how many ticks of regenga do you NEED with an artifact and mnd boon??), but yeah, I'd say ATK and MAG first for attackers and then HP, with elemental attack a distant third.

It's one of the least fun things I've ever done.

However I'm also glad I did it.

There's no rush though. Do a little at a time. Maybe one realm at a time or one weapon/armor type at a time.

Wanting to get a jump on Madeen forced me to dive Cloud of Darkness of all people. It's not a great dive, but I think it gives me just enough to comfortably clear the stage within my self-dooming timer.

My Dark Magic game is a little weak and after loving around with Raines on the team, I finally figured out how to exploit Riku's AASB for magic but without a chain.

The real question now becomes how many to farm? I'm thinking between 4 or 5 complete Madeens. Atk/Atk, Mag/Mag, Mag/Atk, HP/healing, and maaaaybe Fast Act/(undecided). Are any of the other general inheritance traits worth it?

Each magicite team will generally feature something like:
Madeen (DPS)
Madeen HP/Healing or Fast Act/?
HP/Spell/Def Wards
Elemental Defensive
Elemental DPS

You don’t really need to do it. I’m keeping most of my vault trash, especially all the 5* and above armors, and just venting all the new dupes and trash into the rainbow crystal furnace as I get them. If it’s too much of a hassle and you don’t want to do it, then don’t. If you do want to do it, go for it.

But you really don’t need to do it, so don’t feel pressured to do it if you don’t want to.

Leave me to do my dark bidding on the internet!
Question for those of you tackling 5* Magicites - what is your preferred method of breaking their savage mode? It wasn't a huge issue for Quetzalcoatl because of Stone Press but otherwise what's the scoop? OSBs? BUSBs? Leaning on the KH awakenings or waiting for others?

iamsosmrt
Jun 14, 2008

I believe the original intended method was starting with lighting as you alluded and unlocking each magicite. Behemoth King doesn't necessarily need Savage broken. Summoning each as you progress around the elemental circle will break Savage mode at least once. However, this isn't necessarily reliable if you lack chains or imperils. In "poverty" cases you can break with OSBs too.

Of course as time goes on, powercreep with AASBs and BUSBs allow for more player controlled methods.

I ended up with 8 or 9 Rainbow Crystals. I only hoarded stuff for about a week, because I was using the useless 1*-4* crap to level my 5* and 6* stuff.

5* main magicites are the best option by far, because they're fire and forget, and they give a secondary benefit.
ASBs are the next best, only because of extremely limited access currently.
Cloud USB1 is good because he has 5* or higher access for every element except holy. You'll probably need a chain or some other support to break 10k in some cases.
BUSBs are good but you need to charge them up.
Stone Press/Wicked Press are good but also need to be charged up, and only cover two elements.
AOSBs do a ton of damage but can only be used once per battle/
OSBs are the absolute last option. They cost two SB bars, have a long cast time, and have the same potential damage as most USBs while providing nothing else.

Fortunately to offset it I got OK's Forbidden Power USB, which was arguably a far better investment.

Also mimicking is pretty good imho considering that it can let two characters cast Voltech or any other 6* ability that you can only have one copy of.

I suppose it's better now that both Gogos have options for instant-cast mimicry. When it was on a normal charge time, it actively worsened the gimmick it was built around because you had to time it to go off AFTER whatever move you used.

Thinking of throwing a pull at that dark focus banner since I still don't have a dark chain. Any dark chains on the upcoming fest banners or any other banner in the future?

Not on fest but the upcoming dissidia banner debuting Sephiroth's awakening will have Golbez's chain and is overall just much better than dark pickup, imo.

but at least I don't have
a MLP or MSPA avatar.
I am my own man.

It's a fantastic dark mage banner but if you want something physical it's basically Sephiroth or bust there. Even the second banner is just Seph and a passing wave at Gabranth.

Basically, if you need a chain or any dark whatsoever, Dissidia is a better banner. If it's strictly physical stuff you need, then maybe contemplate the Dark Pickup, a little.

Dissidia 1 has Garland USB, and Vayne is a hybrid.

At this point I don't intend to draw on a full price banner unless it has an awakening on it

I've made peace with the fact that rainbow crystals are going to be an incredibly slow grind for me.

Yeah. I still use it for things like the Olberic's Sword we got from the OT Collab, and for Accessories. I still have a blah selection of them, so I'm holding on to everything for now.

Idk dark is the last element I need a chain for so it's hard to pass up an opportunity for one. Think i might go for it anyway but I'll wait and see if anything comes up on the free pulls when the rest starts at least

You'll get other, better chances. Like, for example, the Dissidia banner coming up

And while it's a long wait Seifer's chain returns in like 5 months on the Seifer/Ulti woke banner. https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKeeper/comments/avr848/where_i_belong_jp_megathread_viii/
