Max Muncy has 20 home runs and a 1.000 OPS on July 3rd :swoon:

All these Dodger dingers are fantastic, and hopefully will have the added benefit of convincing the FO that our main trade deadline target should be the bullpen, which it 100% is. Machado would be cool, but also fairly unnecessary at this juncture.

Number 1 Bullshit
Just some bullet points from the Rays/Marlins game:

- Went 16 innings. 5 hours and 31 minutes.
- Rays used 9 pitchers including a catcher after they were up by 5 in the 16th.
- The starter is a normal bullpen guy who was expected to go 5ish, but Cash hit for him in the 3rd to try and bust the game open early, it didn't work.
- One of those pitchers, Vidal Nuno, went 2 for 2. He got thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double, and he pulled his hamstring on what should've been a double. Nathan Eovaldi pinch ran for him.
- Top of the 16th had the Rays start the inning with runners on first and second with no outs, then ground into a 6-4-5 double play. They still scored 5 runs that inning.
- Game ending double play got overturned and led the Marlins to get the tying run to the plate.

And tomorrow is a bullpen day too!

Force outs? Like the guy on second didn't want to run into a tag and was slow enough they nailed him at third?

He's also a defensive nightmare which probably put a damper on for NL teams. In the 33 games Boston has started him in the OF instead of DH he's already put up -1.1 dWAR and -6 DRS.

e. I was originally going to say "so any NL team getting him would be willingly accepting a Schwarber situation" but then I checked and Schwarber has 8 DRS, 8 Assists, only one Error and has been worth 0.5 dWAR so far this season.

Out here, everything hurts

JD Drew was bonkers in his early years with STL. I looked forward to his at-bats more than McGwire.

Pujols came up in 2001 and Drew matched him pound for pound and was on pace for the same kind of numbers Pujols had in his crazy rookie season. But JD missed about 1/3 of the year with injuries so his final numbers weren't there.

Dude was good for a long stretch as long as he was healthy.
