I got an issue... In the genisis mod, there's a couple of buildings in bad teeth that are bugged or something. When I enter, I right click through the floor, which makes moving where I want a bit difficult. Sometimes I'm simply unable to move to certain places. I've tested this extensively and found that it's absolutely an issue with the genisis mod. So far it's just a problem with 2 specific buildings that I've found.

Have you guys ever encountered this issue before? Is there any way to fix this on my end? I've tried resetting navmeshes or whatever (ctrl+shift+f11) but that didn't do it.

Hah, a year ago I was playing Genesis and had that problem too, I think resetting navmeshes fixed it enough that I could get my people out of town? And then I just uh, never went back there again. :shobon:

Probably better to ask in the Genesis discord. Other than Bad Teeth I really enjoyed my Genesis run, will probably use it again next time.

In the ashlands on the opposite side of the skeleton boss guy there's the building full of thralls. I can't enter it or attempt entering it without the game crashing to desktop.

I want to kill them all anyways, but what I'm after is if there's any loot in the building they hide in

So this is annoying, one of my base characters just straight up disappeared. She was my robotics specialist, not that I used her a lot but sucks to lose someone to what seems to be a glitch.

I don’t think she died, my base is pretty heavily fortified and I didn’t have any raids get through my gate. Is there a way to resurrect/find her again? I tried poking around in FCS but that’s quite an undertaking.

Yeah I thought maybe something like that, but I found some other forum post that said you should see any characters who died in a squad called something like _DEAD_SQUAD_ in FCS. I don't even see a squad like that, but of course maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Is there a chance she wondered outside and got murdered? I've had people, for whatever bullshit reason, leave the gates only to get nailed in the head by one of my own turrets. The death alert can be easy to miss.

Yeah I am wondering if she spawned outside the gate (she was on the wall on a turret and sometimes when I load my game they are outside of the wall on the ground... how nice.) So I was wondering if she was accidentally shot in the head by one of my other turret people and instantly killed. Still trying to find her in FCS but don't see any dead people.

Edit: Ah ha - found a save with her in it, but dead (in FCS). She was either shot in the head or chest b/c she's at -100 in one of them. Ok, well at least the mystery was solved. I was thinking it was a random disappearance.

Same thing happened to me, lost Greenthumb or w/e, dark skinned guy from the Fishing Village. Was really quite attached to him, he was my first recruit in my first real game, then suddenly he was just mysteriously missing. It's leaving them on repair duty, repairing the gates, that tends to get them killed like that. They fix the gate with enemies still bashing on it, then get shot by your own turrets (through the gate) and die.

I changed up to double gates after that, or more recently using an overly easy to defend moat.

he doesn't even struggle!

he may wake up and get up out of bed on his own if he recovers to full health, but so far I've just been beating him up over and over again before he can heal all the way. Important to set your guys all to *not* be foraging animals or they'll loot and instakill him.

Apparently you can put him into a slaver cage then "buy" him for 20k cats and he'll go allied with you. I have a full team of 30 though and if you do that he's less useful for training.

Does that train defense / dodge or just the offensive skills?

I don't want to train my offense so high that I kill everything before I can train defense.

Dodge is the most frustrating thing. My best MA fighter so often just gets locked into a constant dodge cycle and never attacks. It seems like weapon fighters can block without major interruptions to their attack cycle in a way that MA's just can't.

Offense only, but you can always kidnap more hostile skeletons and cage them instead.

Can't dodge if you're in crab armor and your arms and legs are broken and/or missing, which really speeds up training. Just give your sparring buddy a rusty katana so they hit rapidly but do no damage, while you twerk defiantly at them.

How much skill advancement you get for fighting someone is determined by how your defence stat compares to theirs. So ideally you'd train offence-only until your attack stat is high enough, gaining bonus xp from your lovely defence stat, and only then start training defence.

I'm trying genesis now. For the most part, I like it. But it's a compatibility nightmare. Many mods don't work with it, or need patches that don't yet exist, particularly with animations and anything involving dialogue, as well as map stuff. There's TONS of map stuff going on.

Almost everything you get out of genesis can be added through individual mods. I'm thinking I might import out of it and just use the mods I like. Thing is, I don't know enough about the mod because there's no documentation about what all it adds. There's a list of mods that are incorporated into it, but there's more in there than that. Tons of world state changes??? The discord is the only place beyond the mod description, so I guess I'll just ask what the entire mod does there?

I dunno... I'm honestly kinda disappointed and regret getting tangled up in it. I would probably recommend it for someone just getting into modding and want a curated experience.

I started as a Wanderer for the most generic/beginner way to start. I was reading the various beginner tutorial tips and didn't think to pause the game. I glance over at my character info and see that I'm somehow injured despite being in the middle of The Hub, an ostensibly well-guarded town.

After looking around and seeing the guards zooming around like Sanic, apparently there's just random bandits kamikaze-ing their way into town and one of them smacked me before being put into the dying state. Also, on the southeast end of town, there was another entirely separate siege by slavers duking it out with bandits who were also duking it out with the the town guards.

I knew the game was supposed to be brutal, but I didn't realize it would be this chaotic as well. :stonklol:

e: Also, apparently stealing from bandits is still considered stealing. Huh. Is there a reliable way to scavenge and loot dead bandits/slavers to turn some coin without being put in jail myself?

Getting beaten up by the police and arrested is not that bad of a thing in Kenshi. If you find yourself in that situation it can help to put all of your characters in passive AI-mode (if you want to keep your units who haven't already aggro'd the law don't [defend ally] themselves into jail as well) and if you want to shorten your sentence set them to defend-only so they don't get extra charges for fighting the fuzz.

Looting the dead only becomes a crime if you get spotted before your [committing a crime!] tag expires (usually after a few seconds if you don't do it right in front of a guard), so stealth skill helps.

If someone is a member of an outlaw/bandit faction or has a [bounty] tag you can pick them up (note that if the command says "kidnap" then it isn't someone safe to grab, so maybe consider not doing it while someone is watching) and carry them out of sight to loot them.

Picking up corpses is basically never a crime. Same for looting members of the wild animals faction, and a few universally-hated factions like omnicidal robots.

If someone is KO'd but recovers enough to be [playing dead...] then regardless of outlaw status when you try to loot them it rolls skillcheck to test whether you get caught pickpocketing. But if you pick them up somehow they automatically get KO'd and cannot wake up until ~5s(?) after you put them down again

If you're in a town/base with no actual cops and no jail and the ruling faction aren't uptight pricks, then even if you do some minor crimes the only people who get mad are the faction you offended. So you can loot a lot better stuff with lower risks at a Waystation.

That Guy Bob

What? Stealing from bandits is never a crime. Its only a "crime" if you loot from a faction that's friendly with the local faction. Dry loot bandits in plain sight until you figure out what's worth clicking on or not. It's only considered "stealing" because the game has wonky rear end mechanics.

The Hub is a shitshow of a ruined city and the nearest town of Squin is barely better, other towns tend to be "safer."

The game doesn't make it clear which factions are friends, is the thing. Especially in places where "criminal gang" and "the local ruling authority" blur together, like UC and Swamp and real life.

Either way all that tedious crap like clicking all the downed bodies to see who is comatose vs playing dead vs very dead... or in a more general sense: paying attention to what's going on nearby, unrelated to what you're doing, and using camera controls and checking tooltips and clicking on stuff to get more information than the UI normally gives unless you go looking for it, is kindof a useful skill in Kenshi.

This isn't actually the case, and it's the main thing that annoys me about Genesis and mod-packs in general. If you look at the big list of included mods, there's a ton of them that have been abandoned because the creator now works on Genesis, so you get gimped/incomplete/very buggy versions of a lot of mods (particularly location/faction mods) if you try to install them separately.
