seems like an ev would work fine as a second car (or perhaps it's the gas car that's your second vehicle?)
yeah i mean, i know plenty of people who don't own cars at all in my city, and they just rent something when they want to travel (or take a bus or train or fly). obviously this isn't practical everywhere, but it still seems like for those kind of people, an ev would be perfectly fine for them. ignoring that it's a city and there's not much of an infrastructure for charging and you can't charge when parked on the street

With cars becoming more connected than ever, cybersecurity is a hot-button topic that extends past your computer screen and into your car. Using a bit of technology, an alleged car thief was able to get his hands on a Model 3 at the Mall of America and drive away without needing a key. The alleged crime was reportedly committed via smartphone.

A computer forensics specialist who commented on the happenings of the incident was able to narrow down just how the alleged stolen Tesla was taken with such reported ease. The person allegedly responsible for taking the car is believed to have reached out to Tesla's customer support to add the stolen Model 3 to his Tesla account by its vehicle identification number. Once the vehicle was accessible on a smartphone that was signed into this person’s account, he was reportedly able to unlock the car and drive away without ever needing a key.

on the other hand, NHTSA gave it a five-star safety rating, so apparently you will be largely unharmed when it accelerates into a parked emergency vehicle

teslas have excellent safety ratings, however, that does not justify totaling a car for a minor ding considering there are many cars on the road with five-star ratings.

well yeah you can run a delorean indefinitely if you're willing to spend the cash to replace parts as they fail. unless you're going to run a server to keep your tesla working, you're pretty hosed when they go out of business

it is, admittedly, a positive of using off the shelf batteries that you can actually replace them as the bandoliers die.

i was wandering around the udvar-hazy center one day, and there was a tour going on. they stopped in front of a nazi fighter plane, and the guide was telling the story of when they were restoring it. no one on the team working on it read german, so they pretty much just ignored the markings and such on it while working. one day, someone who *could* read german happened by and mentioned that there were warning signs around the cockpit for the ejection explosives. apparently some dude had been welding inches away, and all the explosives were still there.
