https://twitter.com/RevProUK/status/1199059210899804160?s=19 This match is going to loving slap. Although it leaves me wondering what ELP will be doing. With Oku busy and Starr gone, in wondering who can challenge him for the title

I did decide to give RevPro another chance. Managed to convince some colleagues to come to the J cup last weekend and it was really good and the audience was really into it. All except one of my friends really enjoyed it as well and they literally knew nothing about wrestling before the show.

why isn’t Spike Trivet getting a bigger push everywhere because he’s underrated af in my opinion.

Because there are only like 3 companies that matter now in terms other than 'running a village hall once a month in front of 20 people' and they're all too busy using the same handful of big indie names plus their own local guys to stay afloat.

So was Defiant folding so quickly back in June/July just because they lost so much talent to NXT-UK or because they weren't getting the numbers they wanted? I always through it was a smart well produced show.

A mixture of both I think: while losing access to NXT U.K. talent hurt that wasn’t exactly a new thing and a lot of their earlier moves struck me as not being very good business ones. They had a habit of flying in expensive imports (I remember Kurt Angle was one) and then running their usual smaller buildings so any additional ticket sales were very limited for the amount that they spent; they made some baffling decisions on that (flying in Minoru Suzuki for a promotion that had a fanbase that was skewed a lot towards people that were more WWE fans with a lot of families and stuff was odd and why he like wasn’t over there but instantly was in Rev Pro) and by the end they’d lost a lot of money with the prospects for the future being grim so they elected to just wind up. To compare with another company; ICW also booked Kurt Angle but then ran the Hydro (big arena, the one that WWE runs in Glasgow) and they did 6,000 for that show and while that might not have fully paid off the Angle fee it made them look big time and important - and then they failed to capitalise on that. They didn’t book him just to run a show in the Barrowlands where they always did relatively good numbers anyway, they brought him in and then swung for the trees and succeeded.

this just popped up on my Twitter feed https://twitter.com/RatherBeDean/status/1208677704570228736?s=19 and lmaoooo the spin just to be clear, ICW is a WWE satellite like Evolve and Progress and the idea that ICW will cast off its irons and become the biggest indie promotion in Europe in TYOOL 2020 is loving laughable

ICW lost too many of its interesting wrestlers and replaced them with the blandest of bland trainees. I don't even think I could tell you who's still there that I still care about. Maybe BT Gunn? They don't even have a roster page anymore.

Feels like WWE is keeping them alive, especially after how long they spent building up Lionheart only to lose him in heartbreaking fashion

Just got back from my very first live show, and wow - watching wrestling live is super fun! Denmark is a wasteland when it comes to pro wrestling, but over the last few years Bodyslam has been doing a lot to change that. It was very obvious that most of the local wrestlers are somewhat inexperienced in the ring, and the highlight of the evening was definitely Scotty Davis vs. Peter Olisander for the Bodyslam championship, but the whole experience of watching wrestling live was incredible. I don't know if there's a point to this post, other than to say that I loving love pro wrestling, and everyone should watch it

Michael Fynne was definitely one of the better local guys in the ring, and I'm thinking about checking out more of his singles matches, although I'm not a fan of his soundcloud rapper gimmick which screams that he's a heel, even though he was trying to work as a babyface. Emeritus seems like he does great character work, but he did the thing where he wore a secondary mask over his primary mask/facepaint, which I don't think went over as intended (the crowd mostly laughed). It was pretty obvious that most of the people in attendance weren't really that knowlegdable about wrestling, but the majority of the matches still had great heat once they got going - esp. the tag team match featuring the hated Swedish Elite, but I guess that's a given since booing the Swedes in sporting events is pretty much mandatory around these parts. If you caught that stream, they played the entire SchadenGraps 5 essentially doing a directors commentary over it. Lykos 2 seemed pretty good, but that could be Brookes’ ability to seemingly have a good match with anyone. Fletcher/Takeashita was really good too. They also prank called DJ Hyde without knowing that Justice Pain had died hours before and got really bummed out when I mentioned it in chat. Overall 10/10 stream, follow them on Twitch

Uh, non-Schadengraps talk, the CATCH Pro-Wrestling: The Great British Heritage Tournament looks like it'll be an absolute banger. Excited to see how it'll all turn out. Seems like the indies are picking back up at least a bit after "the britwres scene died" post-NXT UK.

I didn't see the stream but I think it was something to the effect of wanting to wrestle Cara Noir one more time before leaving for Japan, but that relations between him and PROGRESS aren't great right now.

coconono posted:so did Chris Brookes say something about Cara Noir and that set off the Progress guy? I really need to follow SchadenGraps because it looks cool. Basically just that he'd have liked to wrestle Cara there before he leaves for Japan, but that Progress (which is a company Brookes has done a ton for in the past) has gone a different direction and doesn't really want him any more. Different here meaning "is WWE now, and Chris is one of the few big UK names to turn them down."

The thing that's weird about the whole thing is others chirping in here and there to echo what Chris said like Mikey Whiplash and another I'm forgetting. Strange, but good on Chris. Should make for a good match that I'll have to check out, which I mean guess it did its job. I haven't kept up with PROGRESS at all, but I imagine this is a face vs. face match?
