Don’t get tackled, for one. But if you are going to, say for the achievement. Keep your one handed shotgun equipped. Get tackled. Spam melee. As soon as you see your shotgun, fire.

But goddamn does it feel amazing to solo win a game by 200+ seconds against an entire posse of nerds. Most of my favorite online clips I got during Railroad Baron games.

Railroad Baron is great when there's no cheaters and you've taken position on the train. Then it's really fun picking heads while watching the rats eat each other trying to get to you.

huh, actually had a decent time in online today played for a few hours without any bugs, did some fishing, some hunting, made a couple of moonshine runs and went on a hotstreak at the poker table a lot of people have no idea how to play poker lol

played for the first time in a long while last night. realized I bought the band upgrade for my shack but never tried it out. did a couple of moonshine runs, whiling away the time in between playing banjo i probably have like 500+ hours in this stupid game, i’d love to put in 500 more if they would just release some new content. it’s been like what, 6 months now since moonshiners? more? tbh I thought people were being a little hysterical with their complaints about the lack of updates up to that point but by now, drat. like I know COVID but still, we can’t even get some new clothes they must have backlogged for release? you’d think quarantine would’ve been the perfect time to jump on fast tracking some easy stuff to juice those micro transactions with all the kids home and bored, but they didn’t do it, which makes me wonder if they have anything at all or what’s going on there

Last night was interesting - one daily was row a boat 1000 yards, and we all know how easily those spawn when you want one. Luckily, Shaky at Thieve's Landing gave me a job to go piss off the Del Also been getting hunting missions, and none of this sissy "trade the barely-recognizable bits of a turkey for supplies", go do a Legendary-class hunt for gators or (once, so far) cougar. Dude at Emerald Station sent me to escort a convoy to two wagons to Rhodes - hardest part was getting the second wagon into the dropoff zone, as some peckerwood hacked me into exploding just after I hit the yellow area - which did nothing, since that's a safe zone.

yeah playing a R* game online on PC seems like it’s just a doomed venture from the start. they’re always absolute shitshows of exploits and hacking ive encountered a couple of instances on PS4 where they were doing... something... off that I could identify but for the most part yeah if you get owned it’s just because you suck. or latency I guess. or some exploit already in the game which you then get to learn yourself

Why would I want a Weapon Locker from the Trader tree? My horse already stores all my guns.

Because you're tired of scrolling past crap guns to get the gun you need.

I love the locker so much. When you have guns you will in no way ever use again, shove them in the locker and forget they exist.

Ainsley McTree posted:It's definitely a worthwhile function, but you gotta admit that it kind of sucks that you have to pay extra for the privilege of putting your own guns away I was thinking a better way to do the weapon scrolling and undercooked durability system would have been to let you only carry a realistic amount of weapons and let you drop guns and have them break and malfunction as you used them. There's lots of ways for that to be annoying too but it fits the games "make everything annoyingly grounded" style, also don't want the player to be able to just carry 15x basic gun like you do in BoTW or something. Stops the weapons from having a non-existant power curve because you cant just use the same gun forever, only have a few weapons to scroll through at a time with the expectation that you will have to trade them out with enemy weapons forcing you to vary your style. Can still have custom weapons that you can repair to keep using. Bit like Farcry2 system which had issues but at least made you change which gun you used and the current system is just dull. Having a GTA style weapon system just seems like it's out of place for a grounded game like this and that system was always a bit poor even in GTA where you just pick up the best guns available and then not think about it any further.

Late update on the solo lobby efforts: gently caress ROCKSTAR For unknown reasons, after soloing the lobby, the game now has "server has poo poo itself" errors of multiple varieties after 10-15 minutes max of play. hosed around without soloing last night, game stayed stable - only real glitch was the usual "can't enter moonshine shack" one, but running off a distance would kickstart the animation. Wonder if I should just go to "do a daily for the streak" and otherwise play SP? IIRC, I have every story and side mission done, short of going to Annesburg with Dutch...

As much as Rockstar deserves criticism, I don't know if it's quite fair to go after them for server errors in solo lobbies, since the only way to create a solo lobby in the first place is to destabilize the game on your end in a way that they probably weren't counting on people doing when they designed the game

They obviously want players to interact and disrupt each other and then leave exploits in the game that let you disconnect to save your precious trader goods.

The reason I went to soloing is because their default multiplayer is typically unstable and/or simply broken - camp packing up randomly, and if you're lucky it can be spawned elsewhere? Camp existing, but invisible and non-interactable? Shine shack disappearing, not enterable, or simply going to infinite load or outright crash when trying to do missions? Free-roam mission givers not being interactable? Animals simply not spawning? About the only anti-MP benefit of soloing is the dramatic lessening of hackers - if I'm the only one in there, I don't seem to have cougars continually spawning on me, fire tornados, horse explosions, and such . If solo lobbies are causing instability, what kind of poo poo are the mod menus doing? SolidSnakesBandana posted:If you're not having fun, stop doing the dailies. I challenge you to find a single person who regrets this decision. It's not that the dailies aren't fun - kind of repetitive, but okay - it's the breakage of the rest of the game that sucks what enjoyment there is out of the experience. Especially when you take into account when some hacker/modder is in the game then you might as well just leave ASAP. I play on PC so maybe the modding is worse on PS4 but I swear it's every third or fourth server.

Tried the distant delivery. What a miserable gamemode. You drive the same slow rear end wagon, even further, only now you get be ganked. Enjoy your extra 20 dollars chum, you earned it. I get about halfway and then the ganking arrives as expected. Running gun battle. Wagon hit a rock, wagon falls face forward and breaks, there's two bags of poo poo and only one bag of poo poo playing, so I have to dump one, but in the process of all this the posse catches up, kills the hell out of me, I spawn on the other side of the county, and the loot is destroyed. The only reason I'm not pissed is because they let me keep my poo poo and I could just do the regular normal delivery. Oh and the comedy continued after my loot got trashed, my horse got killed by the same posse, I had to run to Blackwater, he gets chased by the cops and I shoot at him, I get a vandalism charge and eventually just let sweet death take me. I just wanted to go to my loving camp from the fast travel man, I just want to go home. This was before I saw if they docked me the mats for losing like a bitch. This game has evil in it. Hell is other people. Hell is RDR2 Online. Hello partner. Seriously though, I don't know what it is about the game that makes me come back at all. Maybe it's just looking at the scenery high af in bed and the small achievable goals?

I haven't tried RDO - I'v'e only stuck to SP for the 100 hours I've played so far. I'm not even done with the story because I pretty much immediately just went hunting and fishing. But I want you all to know that I am enjoying your descriptions of RDO tremendously, thank you.

Railroad Baron at release was one of my favorite game modes in any online game. Everyone was new, the best strategies weren't ironed out, and there weren't a ton of cheaters. I normally don't like to PvP in these games but it was tons of fun. It was a pretty unique take on King of the Hill gameplay and I loved it, lots of room for improv, strategy, and cool gameplay moments. It died for me with the bug that wouldn't let you dual wield in free roam events and when cheating became rampant. The last game of it I played was some invincible dude on the minigun that wasn't even trying to win and just gunning down everyone. He ate 5 PIB headshots and didn't lose any health, no deadeye or anything. It loses a lot of the luster when you don't know if you were outplayed or if the guy just had godmode on. Reposting one of my favorite moments with my Lemats, the world's sloppiest gun battle: Speaking of the dual wield bug, have they fixed that yet? I haven't played in a few months and that was already in for an embarassing amount of time.
