Now some celebrities picked up the call and are sending more. loving -Venezuela- also offered help, since it is nearby and it's a golden propaganda opportunity. And the police had found businesses hoarding oxygen cylinders, apparently to sell when the price rose.

President's response? "We did all that we could. Take chloroquine."

it is not lack of pushback, but thanks to the pandemic forcing some sort of lull or standstill where everybody is more or less keeping their poo poo together in different ways and sorta staying put, the kettle started to whistle just now and people are like "so, what do we do"

yesterday I heard from an uber driver that they should organize as a category, that the conditions are loving atrocious and there was gross mismanagement and the government was definitely not on their side, and this was from a retired person in Santa Catarina (someone who by statistics skew conservative hard)

and stuff like this is coming from a lot of different people in different situations of living. With the pandemic, there has been a stark realization about the government being actively antagonistic against the health and wellbeing of their citizenry, either by the complete dumbfuckery of the president or the "economic vision" of his minister Paulo Guedes. Bozo isn't popular, even with media credibility in an all-time low thanks to his own contributions to that

the main problem is getting to understand that well, if there is no political opposition, then people do class politics instead of relying on electoralism. Guedes can howl however he wants but if truckers stop for a long enough time, the government is over. Simple as that

With regards to the pandemic, he didn't just deny the efficacy of the vaccines. He said that the whole pandemic is actually fake and that not a single person has ever died of covid.

The funny thing is that even Bolsonaro's supporters are getting vaccinated. In Brazil people still remember the times before polio, for example. Something like 96% of the population intend to get vaccinated, and like 84% intend to vaccinate their kids.

A beachfront mansion was sold in 2020 to a millionaire soccer agent and Richarlison, one of the players he represents. Flavio Bolsonaro, son of Jair, saw the mansion and wanted it for himself. So they concocted a scheme to fool the previous owner to sign some paperwork to contest the transfer of the deed (more complicated than that due to brazilian beachfront laws, but its the main gist) and his connections with the judiciary and as a result the police evicted the pregnant wife of the soccer agent in the middle of the night, tossed all her belongings in a garbage bag, and tossed on the street.

The sort of stuff that would be unremarkable if Bozo was doing it to poor people, but rich people sit up and take notice.

I mean I wouldn't hold my breath on all of the poo poo getting thrown back at them or, gasp, getting dragged to the brazilian embassy to answer for that poo poo, but at least some sort of shame on their faces over this would be nice. At least Ventura bothered to point out it was a mistake by the right rather than try to pass the back to "crazies" or ask the people who let the capitol rioters in to get more guns and more "leglislative freedom".
