NXT Takeover Brooklyn IV Results:
  • The Undisputed Era retained their NXT Tag Team Titles against Moustache Mountain. Afterwards The War Raiders jumped TUE and laid them out.
  • Velveteen Dream (wearing "CALL ME UP VINCE" tights) defeated EC3.
  • Ricochet defeated Adam Cole to win the NXT North American Championship.
  • Kairi Sane defeated Shayna Baszler to win the NXT Women's Championship, though Shayna insisted afterwards that SHE lost rather than Kairi winning.
  • Tommaso Ciampa retained the NXT Championship in a Last Man Standing match against Johnny Gargano, when Gargano couldn't resist going for one last "gently caress you" move to Ciampa which ended up costing him the match.

Summerslam Results:
  • Andrade "Cien" Almas and Zelina Vega defeated Rusev and Lana on the pre-show.
  • Cedric Alexander retained his Cruiserweight Championship against Drew Gulak on the pre-show.
  • The B-Team stumbled their way into retaining their Raw Tag Team Titles against The Revival on the pre-show.
  • Seth Rollins defeated Dolph Ziggler to win the Intercontinental Championship. Drew McIntyre took out Dean Ambrose at ringside at one point but Dean was in place to hit the Dirty Deeds on Drew before he could interfere on Dolph's behalf, leaving Seth clear to beat Dolph.
  • The Bludgeon Brothers were DQed in a crazy, high-paced match against The New Day (Xavier Woods and BIG E), when Erik Rowan grabbed his sledgehammer and started attacking them. Luke grabbed his own and joined in. The Bludgeon Brothers retain their Smackdown Tag Team Titles as a result.
  • BRAUN! defeated Kevin Owens clean as a sheet in less than 2 minutes in a match where he would have lost his Money in the Bank briefcase if he had been DQed or Counted Out. Neither of those options played any part whatsoever in the match.
  • Charlotte Flair defeated Carmella and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat, winning the Smackdown Women's Championship in the process. Charlotte essentially stole the win from Becky, but the two embraced after the match... before Becky snapped and beat the poo poo out of Charlotte to wild applause from the crowd, who chanted,"YOU DESERVE IT!" at Charlotte.
  • Samoa Joe defeated AJ Styles by Disqualification after getting on the mic and telling AJ's wife that he would be her new "daddy" since AJ wouldn't be making it home. AJ went apeshit with a chair on Joe, losing the match but retaining his WWE Championship. AJ left with his wife and child, while a pissed off Joe stormed to the back.
  • The Miz got handed brass knucks by Maryse and knocked out Daniel Bryan after a long back-and-forth match, then pinned him and laughed and taunted a KOed Bryan that he had always been better than him and always would be.
  • Undertaker will face HHH in "their last match (against each other) ever" at the Super Show-Down in Australia on October 6th.
  • Finn Balor used The Demon King persona for the first time in over a year and completely squashed Constable Corbin, who bumped his rear end off and sold that he was utterly terrified and freaked out by the different look.
  • Backstage, Bryan was being treated and was joined by Brie. He went off his nut that he'd wasted his comeback by not being able to beat Miz, but she calmed him down and reminded him his comeback was his true victory, and he will eventually get the better of Miz.
  • Shinsuke Nakamura retained his United States Championship against Jeff Hardy, after Hardy did a Swanton Bomb ONTO THE loving RING APRON after Nakamura dodged aside. Nakamura rolled him back into the ring, hit the Kinshasa and got the win.
  • Post-match, Orton's theme music played and he came stalking down to the ring... then turned around and just walked away shaking his head. Jeff was able to stagger back to his feet to applause from the crowd.
  • Nattie - wearing her late father Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart's old ring-jacket - came to the ring to support Ronda Rousey in her title match. The Bellas were at ringside to watch the match and provide foreshadowing.
  • Ronda completely dominated Alexa, even offering up her back to Alexa and letting her choke her, only to easily break free and tap Alexa out with the armbar. Ronda celebrated with Nattie afterwards, and was joined by the Bellas who embraced her (there were boos for the Bellas) before she rushed out to hug and kiss her husband.
  • Roman Reigns came out to huge boos that were quickly muted by the audio technicians.

  • As the match was set to start, BRAUN! came out and got on the mic to huge cheers and declared that he wasn't a coward who would cash in his MITB briefcase when his opponent's back was turned. So the moment the match was over, no matter who won, he was going to cash in on the victor.
  • Roman went nuts with Superman Punches and Spears on Brock, as Heyman freaked out at ringside. Roman went for one more Spear and got caught into a Guillotine, fighting his way out with a Spinebuster and leaving both men laid out. The match went to the outside when Roman missed a Spear and crashed into BRAUN, and Brock headed outside and F5ed BRAUN. He attacked BRAUN with the briefcase and flung it up to the top of the ramp, then smashed BRAUN with a steel chair. He returned to the ring and swung a chair at Roman who Speared him and pinned him to finally get his precious win over Brock.
  • The show went off the air with Roman celebrating and no cash-in.

Raw Results:
  • Roman opened the show to thunderous boos, insisting that he was a man of his word who had beaten Brock Lesnar (via distraction) and would continue to be so by defending his title regularly on Raw, starting tonight against somebody who deserved the title rematch he'd never been given: Finn Balor.
  • Balor came out to accept Roman's offer, but was cut off by Baron Corbin who insisted that Balor had cheated by using his Demon persona against Corbin at Summerslam. Kurt Angle came out happy as could be and told Corbin HE made the matches, to Roman vs. Balor was going to happen, and Corbin himself had a match tonight against Bobby Lashley.
  • Lashley eventually defeated Corbin in a surprisingly long and bewilderingly back-and-forth match where Corbin more than held his own against a guy who has a clean pinfall victory in the record against the current Universal Champion.
  • Paul Heyman met with Kurt Angle backstage and said they had no excuses for Brock's defeat, but Brock wanted his rematch for the title. Kurt said that Brock's contract didn't stipulate WHEN the rematch would happen and Kurt intended it to be a long time away. Heyman tried to sell Kurt on the idea of a Hell in a Cell rematch, but Kurt told him to FUHGEDDABOUDIT!
  • Corbin was pissed at Angle and warned him that Stephanie McMahon was here tonight and he was going to go complain to her.
  • The Riott Squad defeated Sasha Banks, Bayley and Ember Moon in a six-woman tag. The idea seems to be that even if Sasha and Bayley have patched up their differences, the Riott Squad are a more cohesive unit benefiting from Ruby Riott's leadership.
  • Triple H came out to cheers from the crowd and thanked them for making NXT (and Summerslam) a big success. He talked about his upcoming match against Undertaker in Australia, saying that their era had really ended but he was willing to be "The Game" again for one last night if Taker was willing to be "The Phenom".
  • Dean Ambrose had his first televised match back since his injury, defeating Dolph Ziggler in a cool match featuring lots of interaction between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. Dean won when he used his increased muscle to block and reverse the jumping DDT into the Dirty Deeds.
  • BRAUN! approached Balor backstage and reminded him that no matter if the champion is Roman or Balor, he has the Money in the Bank briefcase.
  • Elias' concert was interupted this week by Curt Hawkins, who wanted to end his losing streak of 218 matches tonight. Elias called him a loser and told him to gently caress off, so Hawkins started to leave then raced back and challenged him again. He almost scored a surprise pinfall and the crowd actually started chanting,"YOU CAN DO IT!" before Elias finally hit Drift Away and got the win, extending his losing streak to 219-0.
  • Titus found Dana and Apollo backstage and they reviewed Dana's statistical analysis/strategy to defeat The Authors of Pain.
  • Dana's strategy was flawed, as The Authors of Pain defeated Titus Worldwide.
  • The Women's Roster came out and surrounded the ring which had the Women's Title belt on a podium inside. Stephanie came out and talked about how she had formed Ronda Rousey in her own image and Ronda owed everything to her. Ronda came out, told Stephanie tonight wasn't about her and told the rest of the women to get into the ring because she wasn't above any of them. She talked up what they had done to inspire her, including Bayley and Sasha's great NXT matches. Stephanie accused her of being mad with power and only interested in hurting people like Alexa Bliss, so Ronda corrected her by saying she only broke the arms of those who deserved it, and proceeded to throw Stephanie into an armbar before celebrating with the other wrestlers.
  • Scott Dawson defeated Bo Dallas in a singles match, the first of two singles matches between The Revival and The B Team.
  • Dash Wilder defeated Curtis Axel, but post-match The B-Team reminded them that they are still the Raw Tag Team Champions.
  • Renee interviewed Roman Reigns backstage, where he said Finn deserved the title shot but he was going to lose and go to the end of the line. He wasn't concerned about BRAUN! since his presence hadn't affected him last night (Brock got distracted murdering BRAUN! and then got speared by Roman and lost) and he could come at him from the front or the back, and Roman would beat him too.
  • Kurt came to see Stephanie backstage, where she was icing her arm while being hovered over by Alexa Bliss and Baron Corbin. Stephanie (and Corbin) accused Kurt of not being able to keep the roster in line, so Stephanie decided to "gift" him with a vacation, putting Corbin in charge as Acting General Manager.
  • Roman Reigns and Finn Balor were having a hell of a match (crowd was almost desperately cheering for Balor and loudly booing for Roman) when BRAUN!'s music played. Roman was distracted and Balor took advantage and for one beautiful, sweet moment it looked like he was going to win the title... but Roman was still able to get the win. :sigh:
  • BRAUN! entered the ring and handed over the briefcase, and Jojo announced that BRAUN! was cashing in... which is when the SHIELD's music played and Ambrose and Rollins stormed out in their old Shield gear.
  • The crowd was chanting,"HOLY poo poo!" as Roman got up and told BRAUN! to bring it on... so he did! Ambrose and Rollins immediately jumped him, he fought them off briefly but they managed to get him out of the ring and then set him up for the Triple Powerbomb through the announce table.
  • BRAUN! was once more able to briefly fight them off but they overwhelmed him again and put him through the table.
  • The show ended with BRAUN! down, The Shield fistbumping, and Balor nowhere to be seen.
____________________________

Smackdown Results:
  • The Miz opened the show with Maryse to spoof Daniel Bryan's retirement speech, thrilling over the fact that he beat Bryan at Summerslam and announcing he was "retiring" from Daniel Bryan. Bryan came out calling him a coward (the crowd chanted the same at Miz) but he replied that the records wouldn't show him as a coward, but as a winner.
  • Bryan called Miz a wannabe Hollywood star cosplaying as a wrestler. Maryse told him to go home to Brie, and Brie's music hit and she rushed out and starting laying into Miz with punches as Maryse cleared out of the ring. Bryan got on the mic and said that Paige had booked them in another match at Hell in a Cell, a mixed tag between himself and Brie vs Miz and Maryse
  • Backstage, Miz was furious at Paige but she insisted the tag match was going to happen.
  • Randy Orton defeated Jeff Hardy by DQ when Hardy had enough of Orton loving with the hole in his ear and hit him on the dick, then attacked him post-match. Orton fought back but Jeff got the upper hand and beat him down with a chair and a handheld camera, then climbed up onto some equipment boxes and hit a Swanton Bomb on Orton through a table.
  • The Bar was interviewed backstage by Renee and said they were here purely to put out a challenge to whoever won tonight between The New Day and The Bludgeon Brothers. The Club showed up to throw their own hat in the ring, or rather so that Karl Anderson could show off his sweet abs ("LOOK AT 'EM! TALK TO 'EM!" he bellowed), so The Bar promised they were going to kick their heads off.
  • Peyton Royce defeated Naomi in a singles match.
  • BIG E was backstage getting his ribs taped up (and eating ribs), and was joined by Kofi and Xavier who said despite his injury, tonight they were going to beat The Bludgeon Brothers and become 5 time tag team champions.
  • They played a video package of Charlotte winning the title and Becky attacking her afterwards at Summerslam, but specifically added in cheers for Charlotte winning and removed the Jesus Pop Becky got for her assault and put in boos.
  • Becky came out and the crowd mics were instantly lowered but couldn't hide that they were all cheering for Becky and eagerly agreeing with everything she said. Becky turned on them by pretending like they hated her and were booing her (they were chanting her name), ranting about "your generation", and then Charlotte came out and the two got into a brawl, with Paige bringing out the rest of the women's roster (including Asuka) to pull them apart.
  • Rusev and Lana defeated Andrade "Cien" Almas and Zelina Vega when Aiden English appeared out of nowhere and provided a pivotal distraction, allowing Rusev to get the pin. Afterwards English called out that he'd always have Rusev's back, and Rusev and Lana both seemed happy to see him there.
  • Nakamura did a backstage promo with the US Bel talking about pledging allegience to the United States of Nakamerica.
  • AJ came out to talk about how Joe crossed a line at Summerslam, and though AJ had lost his poo poo and gotten DQed, he promised he would make Joe pay fo... at which point Joe showed up and hauled him off his pedestal, knocked him out with the Coquina Clutch and then got on the mic and bellowed to Wendy Styles back home that AJ wouldn't be home to tuck in the kids, because "DADDY'S ALREADY GONE NIGHT-NIGHT!"
  • Paige was talking to officials backstage to make sure Joe was gone and AJ was being taken care of, when Carmella showed up to complain about losing her title. R-Truth showed up accusing Carmella of trying to duck him and demanded he get his title shot against Carmella . Paige sent him away and assured Carmella she would get her one-on-one title rematch against Charlotte next week.
  • The New Day (Xavier and Kofi) vs. The Bludgeon Brothers no-DQ tag title match got off to a wild start with them fighting outside the ring and over the announce tables, with Harper drilling Kofi with an announcer chair out of nowhere.
  • New Day defeated The Bludgeon Brothers in a crazy match, winning the Smackdown Tag Team Titles and becoming 5-time (5 time, 5 time, 5 time, 5 time!) tag team champions. BIG E rushed down to join in the celebrations. The crowd was so happy and for once WWE agreed and didn't mute the mics. :hellyeah:

That said, Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin was basically booked perfectly, as was Ronda vs. Alexa (it was booked exactly like Bryan/Miz and Carmella/Becky should have been).

Best SummerSlam since '13, which obviously isn't saying much, but they booked themselves out of all sorts of trouble, which I know is their own drat fault to begin with, but.....fun night. Brisk pace. Intrigued about what's to come – Becky turning, AJ/Joe going off the rails, and thank ye gods, we can finally have champ Roman perhaps have some good matches with talented challengers. And hey, Gallows is dating Nia! Why not.
