So I missed the boat on "Let's Play"'s but I was kicking around ideas similar to* that but with terrible books. I wanted to do some due diligence and see what LPs were all about (because I might be able to parody both LPs *and* the book at the same time) but... I can't tell the wheat from the chaff on Youtube. * Here's how I think Let's Plays work: Choose a game, record self playing game while riffing on the on-screen action, edit out the dull parts, post. Unfortunately searching Youtube for Let's Play is like searching for 'sex' at Pornhub. It's not an LP, but I remember reading a story about a disabled guy who had a large streaming audience (on twitch or something similar) and didn't realize that he hadn't turned the camera off, and stood up and stretched (thereby demonstrating he was not, in fact, disabled). That's pretty funny to me. Pretty much the "bending in the wind" Futurama episode come to life.

Yeah, Gaming Garbage is really awesome! Especially when Lotax had a good partner to riff off of OneyPlays is pretty much always consistently funny to me too, and the Super best friends are pretty great most of the time

If you like riffing on games then Gaming Garbage and Retsupurae actually are la creme de la creme. Retsupurae used to also riff on bad LPs which was really funny poo poo. LPs do fall into more categories than humour though, they can be: Informative ( like Research Indicates's trespasser LP) Displays of skill ( Jade-Star's X-com LP) Going through the game so you can experience it too ( thevoiceofdog's LISA the painful RPG LP) (or re-experience a game with someone's commentary so you feel less lonely in this bleak alienating world, cause it's like you're experiencing the game with a buddy!) Participatory choose your own adventures( King of Dragon Pass LP threads are always real fun ) Masochistic trudges through difficult/badly made games ( Psychedelic eyeball's Prince of Persia 3D LP (no, not the ubisoft one, the real bad one)) Screamfests where adults pretend to poo poo themselves scared at Amnesia or Five Nights at Freddys - these are for children but they make the most money (aside from streaming fortnite or whatever, but those aren't LPs) And more ! but this post is long enough. Usuallly you find an LPer you like and go through their stuff. Part of the entertainment is the game, part is the player. Also if you want to play a game but don't have the energy, patience, skill or hardware to go through it but want to see it through then LPs are neat because it's like you have your own personal gaming slave, playing your games for you!
