Ask me how to run a good team into the ground.
Cibulkova and Kerber had a fun match; much better than the shitshow that Bertens and Vondrousova had before it.

Happy Cibulkova won even if Kerber has a better chance at beating Williams down the line.

Osaka double bageled Sasnovich in one of the most one sided matched I've ever seen. Brutal beat down.

Nearly as overlooked as Joe Mauer
De Minaur is unreal with what he can return. But also really young and raw. This is a great match with Cilik

It's a shame Svitolina and Zverev can do gently caress all at the slams (but at the same time it is hilarious).

Millman is playing very well meanwhile Federer had a first serve percentage in the 30s in the second set

When a man lies he murders some part of the world. These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives. All this I cannot bear to witness any longer. Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home?

Man Federer is playing pretty poo poo. Even if he makes it out of this somehow he'll get crushed by Djokovic.

Hard to believe it's been 9 years since that Federer - Del Potro final. :corsair:

I don't think he'll win another slam with Djoker back.

Weird to think Fed will be 38 next time he plays at the USO. Murray cant stay healthy, Djoker is just rebounding from a lengthy title drought and Rafa might have a joint implode at any moment. They're all on the wrong side of 30 yet they're still consistently going on deep runs every Slam, at least some of them.

Some real serving poo poo shows yesterday with Federer, Sabalenka and Sharapova.

edit:

From a Wertheim article on last night's loss:

quote:

Millman’s game was no revelation to Federer. In fact, Federer has often summoned Millman as a sparring partner. It’s fair to wonder whether this relationship had an impact on the match. Spend days practicing with another player and you learn their patterns and preferences. Beyond that, hang with a guy for a few days and, inevitably, his mystique starts to erode. As Millman said afterward, “I’ve never played anyone’s reputation...if you do that you start behind the eight ball right away.”

It ended in a fitting fashion with Thiem missing the routine overhead put-away on match point. This was my first time watching Theim play and he had a strange combination of being rock solid in difficult, high pressure situations and abysmal in easy, high pressure situations.
