That looks like the dagger. Up 23 with 3 minutes to go and the Dream can't hit a free throw.

And the Mystics close out a 21 point win. Storm already down 4-0 as it switches over.

And then they went on a 10-0 run immediately after. Man it owns when they actually score.

Ah, gently caress. The Mercury actually hit a three before the 4th quarter. Not good! At least Taurasi is still scoreless somehow.

Griner is so unfair Happy to see a double digit lead going into the half with Bird out for the last 5 minutes. Really hope she's alright...

The Bird is still out and questionable to return Not gonna help when the Storm inevitably collapse in the fourth.

A 16 point lead in the second half??? There's no way the Storm are gonna blow this one!

loving hell. The Storm are gonna blow this one too. Really gotta hope that Bird is alright for game 5. If both teams were shooting average from 3 in this game, the Mercury would be up 8.

Cavauro posted:i'm going to start watching this if I remember. Sorry for posting when it's not game day Well, I shall remind you to remember that both game 5s are happening today! First up, at 8 PM EST on ESPN2, we have game 5 between the Mystics and the Dream in Atlanta. The Mystics forced a game 5 by winning game 4 by 20 points. Elena Delle Donne's return to play after suffering a knee injury in game 3 was the big reason the Mystics won, as Delle Donne earned a tough double-double and showed off her offensive and rebounding value. With the superstar back, the rest of the Mystics looked energized. Kristi Tolliver scored 22 points and Ariel Atkins added 19 of her own en route to the W. On the other end of the floor, the Dream struggled mightily to score consistently. 6 players scored double figures, but none scored more than 12. They'll need someone to truly ball out to stand a chance against the revitalized Mystics squad. Regardless of outcome, the winner moves on to the WNBA Finals. Then, at 10 PM EST also on ESPN2, the Mercury and Storm finish their series in Seattle. In what seems to be a running theme, the Storm were up by 19 in the third quarter of game 4 before choking away the lead and losing by 2 after Brittney Griner once again scored from the post with 14 seconds to go. The Storm had one last chance to tie the game up or win, and they got the ball to MVP Breanna Stewart underneath the basket and in great position to score. For whatever reason, Stewart passed out, and time had expired before her teammate caught the ball. It was an odd mental error by a player who is used to high-pressure situations like that. One possible explanation for what happened was that Stewart was still distracted by what had happened before halftime. While trying to run around a screen set by Stewart, teammate Sue Bird ran into Stewart's elbow and the collision broke Bird's nose, and sidelined her for the rest of the game. Of course, this kind of narrative is dumb bullshit that sportswriters will try to pass off as the truth, and it's far more likely that Stewart lost track of time when under the basket. Bird will be back to play in game 5 while wearing a facemask. Considering that she's broken her nose 4 times, Bird is quite used to it--in fact, she led the Storm to a finals win back in 2004 while in the mask. As for the Mercury, Griner has been unstoppable down low as she scored 29. Fellow teammate Dewanna Bonner added 27 of her own, and Diana Taurasi scored 16 despite being held scoreless all of the first half. If there's one thing the Mercury have to be worried about, it's fatigue. Only 6 players had significant playtime for the Mercury in game 4, which has been par for the course for Phoenix through their entire playoff run. Will they be able to outlast the Storm? Or will the Storm finally show up in the fourth quarter and finally close out this series?
