The summon screen music slaps. This is a dream come true for reroll obsessed gacha game fans.  Happily spent a couple hours last night mashing that refresh button watching sparklies pop up and getting to know all the 5*s. This is so easy and painless I’ll happily sink a few days into rerolling while watching TV to see if I can get a completely busted start. I feel so powerful making hundreds of gacha pulls and discarding so many 5*s.

I’m perfectly content to spend up to a week rerolling while watching TV. I’m thinking my goal is Grace plus two of anything top tier. Most of what I’ve been reading has suggested I want to watch for Gala Mars, Gala Thor, Gaibhne & Creidhne, or most of the Gala characters.

A few days into this and having a blast. Wound up taking a starting roll with Grace and Gala Mars but not a lot else. 2x free daily ten pulls on the Persona banner has paid off big coughing up Joker, Mona, Shinobi and Ramiel. After getting the two headline units I’ve been hoarding tickets and wyrmite for later. I’ve been plugging away at the event and almost have Sophie done, currently at 47/50 on the Mana Circles thing. Joker and Grace are on the rise and I’ve got all the FarmVille buildings now for my little town. (I caved and took the story skip after the first four or so chapters) I also bought all five builder dragon dudes so they’re merrily working away upgrading buildings. Is there a goon alliance I can join? That’s the next step on the Royal Regimen for me. Also I’ve got 290.5k eldwater burning a hole in my pocket. I read somewhere that I want to spend those on wyrmprints first before spending them on units. It’s unclear whether “don’t spend eldwater on any units” or “don’t waste eldwater on 3* junk that won’t last” was the intention of the poster though. Am I safe to sink some eldwater into Joker and Grace? I’m guessing I want the +Dagger and +Staff wyrmprints for both too?

THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND ELDWATER??? I am the happiest newbie alive! I was down to 120k and trying desperately to figure out how I could stretch it to get most of the wyrmprints I want. Now I might even have enough to spiral Euden or Karina! Probably not, but it’s less absurd a thought than 20 minutes ago!

Kind of surprised this game isn’t getting more chatter, it’s extremely cool and good. Had a big breakthrough today and finally have a team that can clear Kai Yan’s Wrath: Expert solo on auto! Managed to bump Joker’s Agito weapon up to 4/9 unbinds while the rest of the gang sits at 0/9 for now. My honey stash is hiding in the corner deeply afraid and for very good reason.  I’m getting extremely close to enough might to be able to queue for Kai Yan: Master so that’s exciting. Once I’ve got my shadow team up to the point where I can do Kai Yan: Master I’ll start working on teams for some of the other elements. Right now I just have one built character of each type for co-op.

The best/worst thing about pulling Ryszarda is having her on the home screen repeatedly saying “Faris and Pinon are my juniors, and I must hold myself together so I can protect them”. The voice actor says the names funny so it sounds like “Farts and peeing on are my juniors”.

I get that veterans are a little bored with the doublebuff meta. But as a newbie who rerolled hard for Grace and invested heavily into Patia and Karina, it feels real bad to see the game heading that direction. I mean, it’s endgame content and I don’t even have all my teams kitted out with 4/9 Agito weapons nevermind approaching legend difficulty. So I doubt it’ll impact me any time soon. But it feels terrible to be investing in and grinding for all these characters knowing they’re hard countered by the next tier of endgame. It seems to be hitting the good 4* units especially hard.

Watched that live and for my first Dragalia Digest I was incredibly impressed. Why don’t more mobile games put on a presentation that quality? That was delightful. Hype for all the stuff the veterans probably don’t care about like Fire Emblem going into the event compendium and all the 1/2 stamina double drops bonus so I can farm the hell out of draconic essences. Most excited about all the eldwater I’ll get from dupes on all those free pulls. Need... more... Eldwater...

Just had my first “I think I’m getting better at this game” moment doing Master High Jupiter. Within the first 20 seconds or so the rest of the team managed to suicide and drop out. It would have been faster to drop out and re-queue but I kept going and soloed mHJ from 80% to 0% on my Patia!  Not very time efficient but it felt good that I’m finally getting the hang of these HDT fights after some embarrassing performances earlier in the week. Super hype for reset tonight. I’m over half way to sparking so after the free pull I’m gonna throw enough tix/wyrmite at the banner to spark Gala Reborn Zephyr.

So she has to go in the lead (and she’s very squishy) or go without her Giant Notte form. Thinking I’ll put THope back in the lead slot and replace Notte for now. Human Mids is extremely good and I want to build a bow for V.Chelsea and eventually if I can ever afford spirals again Louise.

I’m excited for Dragalia Lost 2023 when we get monkey forms of all the main cast. Followed by dolphin forms in 2024. Threw some wyrmite at the banner last night. Landed Gala Laxi and Human Mercury! (Still resisting the trend of calling her HuMer or HumMer) I’m thrilled to get Mercury but even more excited to get Laxi as Fire was the last element I had zero 5*s in. Woke up at 4am and spent a little time trying to get an auto eVolk team running without HLowen or OP stuff like Mym and Leo. I’m getting real close. If I can break through that barrier I can max the last tree and up my consistency with that alone!

Losing my mind hype for H!Lowen coming back TOMORROW. eVolk is the only non-eTart Agito I can’t yet auto on solo. I’m pretty sure I can get there with H!Lowen in the mix. A dud of a showcase for vets, but for us Persona newbies getting a chance to pull H!Lowen feels huge. Just about every single auto eVolk guide has H!Lowen.

Next on my list are mTwins and eJaldabaoth. eJalda might be tricky without Leo or Mym, but I’ll give it a shot. mTwins I’ve got a ton of pieces for I just need to figure out the right team. I’ve got Gala Mascula, Tiki, Mitsuba, HuMerc, Lily, Lapis, the usual Karina/Pipple and as always Grace. All the guides seem to use Gala Elisanne and/or Fjorm and I don’t have either. I still have my Dream Ticket in the bank but I’m thinking I’d rather have Azazel for Grace than Xainfried or Jiang Ziya. None of the Fire options feel like they’d really help with eJalda.

I started about four months ago with Grace + Gala Mars and it was an excellent start. Grace + Gala Jeanne is probably the best start. Depending on your tolerance for rerolling Grace plus any Gala is worth pausing to at least consider. Grace + any Gala dragon is a very reasonable start. Grace + Gala Leonidas or Gala Notte would be a fun start, although the guide I read advised prioritizing dragons over adventurers early and that served me well. Don’t sweat it to a crazy degree, but it is really valuable to guarantee at least Grace in your starting roll. (You may be detecting a theme here)

Well this is turning out to be a hell of a good week! I threw a couple tickets in and pulled Gala Leonidas from the Gala banner. Then today I logged in, got the 5* scratch ticket and pulled Gala Elisanne. Probably my two most wanted units in the entire game.

Also Gold Slime Cleanup is back for three more days if anyone needs rupies. 478k rupies per clear with 4x Fafnirs and it costs 6 stamina to run. Takes under 20 seconds to auto. I’d highly recommend farming a bunch of rupies.

Yeah I’m approaching 500mil rupees and feeling like I really need to farm this much harder. Gold Slime Cleanup is decently rare and it’s insane how much better it is. Got my first decent Kaleidoscape run and I think I’m hooked. Twins do a pretty good job on auto but you have to babysit it or mobs get left behind at 20% HP and you wind up under levelled. Leo worked well too. Seems like offensive healers and rapid fire manacasters are the way to go. Oh and I got this bad boy off my last run.

Kaleidoscape is extremely good. Got a couple runs to floor 49 that yielded enough shards to buy the Sunlight Stones. Should be able to nab the Omnicite too before the monthly reset hits, maybe even the ingot as well. My only gripe is that it’s a very long gameplay mode. Once the new game mode thrill wears off it’s gonna become one hell of a tedious slog to grind. But the rewards are so insane you kinda don’t have a choice. Two full Sunlight Stones a month is a game changer. A small tweak to the UI to make them more thorough about cleaning floors would go a long way to making autobattle viable past the first 20 or so floors. Right now the UI will be staring directly at a Gold Slime (guaranteed level up) and keep running. Probably the best gameplay mode addition in a mobile game since Hearthstone hired the Card Quest dev.

Twins have been the most successful for me. Sandalphon was also very good in the short run I did before bed. I hear good things about Gala Zena which makes sense. Offensive-minded healers and Manacasters seem to be the easiest. The big thing the auto gets wrong is skipping half the trash on the stage so you wind up underlevelled by 20ish. If you want to auto it means watching the screen and dragging them over to the mobs they’re ignoring. (My preferred method, kind of a half-auto) You can’t quite stick to a rule of level being double the floor, but I try to be in that ballpark by around floor 20–25ish. The level cap is 80 and I prefer to hit it no later than floor 45. It helps if you get a floor with a bunch of the Commander mini-bosses that all give a full level of XP each. Also always watch out for the gold slimes as they’re super easy to kill and a full level apiece. The AI can be standing right next to the gold slimes and completely ignore it. Hopefully the Fafnir levels help make it more truly autoable. Otherwise a tweak to make the AI more thorough in cleaning out a floor before moving to the next would do.

That really sucks.  Dragalia Lost has consistently been one of the best mobile games I’ve played. I’ve been playing iOS games pretty much every day since buying my first iPod Touch in 2012 and I struggle to think of games I’ve enjoyed this much. Maybe peak Puzzle & Dragons or Marvel Future Fight. I wish I’d jumped on the bandwagon earlier but it’s been a fun run from Persona to today.

I wonder if there’s a way Nintendo could sell Dragalia Lost to Apple for Apple Arcade. If they could strip all the IAP out and just run the existing events on a loop they’d end up with a pretty compelling product.
