I can’t fuckin believe this season is almost over. This is definitely the least amount of baseball I’ve watched in a season. Getting old sucks

Yeah, it does. I’ve really tried and only wind up watching like one game a week.

Dodgers:
empty - 105
RISP - 94
loaded - 76
2 outs, RISP - 71
high leverage - 71

Combine this with what the bullpen had been doing in the ninth and I'm gonna be dead soon.

Dodger context pitching splits, tOPS+ (league number in parenthesis):

late & close - 103 (93)
high leverage - 114 (100)
7th inning - 110 (99)
8th inning - 100 (98)
9th inning - 103 (92)
extras - 115 (106)

Yet despite this, the Dodgers bullpen has a basically league-average ERA- and FIP-

Yeah that’s great I saw more than one ninth inning meltdown in person and all my knowledge comes from my gut.

They're pitching numbers, so it's OPS against, i.e. >100 is bad. I'm saying the numbers agree with your perception.

The World Series should be every ten years after 1000 games.

Clayton Kershaw, despite his "down" year is still in position to maintain his most interesting/weird career-long streak: lowering his career ERA in each successive season, but it's going to be close!

Kershaw career ERA at the end of each season:

2008: 4.26
2009: 3.36
2010: 3.17
2011: 2.88
2012: 2.79
2013: 2.60
2014: 2.48
2015: 2.43
2016: 2.37
2017: 2.3628

He currently has 41 ER in 150.1 IP for an ERA of 2.45. He will get 1 more regular start next Monday in Arizona, then probably an abreviated final start in SF the following Sunday. To get his season ERA below 2.3628, he needs to do one of the following in those final games:

Allow 0 runs in 6 IP (2.3603)
Allow 1 run in 9.2 IP (2.3625)
Allow 2 runs in 13.2 IP (2.3598)
Allow 3 runs in 17.2 IP (2.3618)

With the likely short start in SF, he probably needs to allow no more than 1 ER over these final games to get there.

He can’t seem to allow 0 runs in a start anymore, the bum. It’s been kind of fun watching him manage things with a 90 mph heater and somehow still be effective.

Christian Walker got hit in the face yesterday by Kenta Maeda, out for the rest of the season with sinus fractures. Going to get his jaw wired and eat only liquids for a month.
