quote:

When Mickey York and Craig Monroe threw to the booth during Wednesday night’s broadcast of Fox Sports Detroit’s “Tigers Live” pregame show, an unexpected duo appeared on screen — that of Matt Shepard and Kirk Gibson.

Conspicuously absent from the show was the regular tandem of play-by-play announcer Mario Impemba and analyst Rod Allen.

Multiple sources told The Athletic that neither Impemba nor Allen were part of Wednesday’s broadcast due to a physical altercation between the two television personalities following Tuesday’s game in Chicago against the White Sox. It is not immediately clear what prompted the attack.

According to the accounts of those sources, there has been simmering tension between both Impemba and Allen and the clash of personalities ultimately boiled over on Tuesday night.

Both Shepard and Gibson had to be brought in to Chicago at last-minute’s notice, according to at least one source. Another source said that Impemba’s and Allen’s travel arrangements back to Detroit were booked separately to avoid further issues.

There’s quite a few minor league teams in and around Tampa Bay, plus an AAAA team!

Speaking of that, Blake Snell is now a 20 game winner and the Rays are going to win 90 games and still miss the playoffs.

Alright fair. But can you give me some players having excellent seasons besides Snell? Who else is in their rotation besides Glasnow? Who leads their team in homers? I am at work now and can't really check...

Mallex Smith broke out and is hitting .300. Tommy Pham seemed to just need a change of scenery to turn back into Tommy Pham, he’s hitting the ball like crazy again.

Rotation? You must mean Stanek (100mph fastball, 73:26 K:BB in 61 innings 5.7 H/9), Alvarado (74:27 K:BB in 61 innings, 5.6 H/9), and friends. Also, the shambling corpse of Sergio Romo who throws 86 now but with the same killer slider he’s always had.

CJ Cron leads the team in homers. Nobody else is hitting very many.

A’s games during regular season can sometimes be described as, “people who also like football do their parking lot tailgating at a baseball game while football is hibernating.” It’s something they’ve got in common with Brewers fans and Dodgers fans.

You can reach O.Coli reasonably conveniently on rapid transit, there is no reasonable way to get to the Trop from what I’ve heard.

Sure there is, just drive 40 minutes from Tampa in rush hour traffic across a 12-mile bridge.

CC Sabathia was ejected today and Rotoworld revealed this great little tidbit:

They were up big and he had only thrown 55 pitches.

One of the ESPN hosts said that Sabathia can only gain respect in the clubhouse for such a selfless act as foregoing a $500,000 bonus to protect his hitters.

Baseball is stupid sometimes.

But god drat, that crotch grab :laffo:

Jesus lol

The pirates have one player with 20+ home runs (Polanco with 23).

The Rays have one, CJ Cron with 30 as of about an hour ago.

Their runner ups are Bauers (11) and Adames (10).

Tommy Pham’s going to finish the season with a .330 average and a 1.05 OPS for the Rays in his 37 games for them. He was hitting .248 for the Cards in 98 games before that. I guess he really did just need a change of scenery to take off again.

2019 Rays are going to rule god dang, unless they inexplicably blow up the team again because competing is expensive
