HTTP 400: Bad post

quote:

In broadcasting, a commercial bumper, ident bumper or break-bumper (often shortened to bump) is a brief announcement, usually two to fifteen seconds in length that can contain a voice over, placed between a pause in the program and its commercial break, and vice versa. The host, the program announcer or a continuity announcer states the title (if any) of the presentation, the name of the program, and the broadcast or cable network, though not necessarily in that order. On children's television networks, they are sometimes called external eyecatches due to the resemblance of internal eyecatches in anime and there is usually no voice over, but some bumpers do feature one. Bumper music, often a recurring signature or theme music segment, is nearly always featured. Bumpers can vary from simple text to short films.

A film/intermission bumper is the short clips that plays before a film and trailer previews. The most famous example is Let's All Go To The Lobby. I am on the hunt for these film bumpers; any kind of advertisement for refreshment, food, or any other "Coming Soon!" type bumper. Primarily what makes finding these so difficult is that it is hard to find the official name of the bumper, if they even had one. Why would I want these? Well I am a mega nerd who spent a bunch of money building a movie theater, and now I try to make my own movie night intros for screenings I do with friends. I already bought an industrial popcorn machine, slushie machine, hot dog steamer, cash register, etc, it only makes sense to flesh out the full movie going experience with some vintage film trailers and bumpers.

Please help me identify as many of these as possible, and help me find them in the highest quality possible! Youtube, DVD/Bluray compilations, whatever I we can find. I'll take anything. Note: I am not asking for filez. I am more than willing to pay for a bluray filled with them, or pay the official source for their content. I just can't loving find them.

This YouTube playlist contains 467 of them which should be a good starting point. Can anyone help me find some of these in better quality? Unfortunately 240p looks like poo poo on a 12ft screen.

I can't help with your search, but I wanted to say that I'd love to see photos of your theater!

Cool project OP. I'll see if I can track some stuff down. I'm about to reveal I'm a hella 90s kid. Always planned on adding this one to the home theater I'm building next year in my basement.

E: Actually, a URL at the end of that video leads to a forum that might be able to help?

I think these pictures are going to be huge if you open the thumbnail but it is what I had on my phone readily available. The red curtains cover closets. The back closet has the Xbox/VCR and electronics stuff. The front closet contains a mini fridge, popcorn machine, and shelf for candy (and a ton of obscure horror/porno VHS). The popcorn machine is actually quite large and I enjoy using the cart, I keep flavorings and oil inside it so it needs to be rolled out of the closet to be used but is totally out of the way when you hide it behind the wall and door. The slushie machine is currently in repair because one of the 3 spinning things in the top heads stopped spinning and I can't have just TWO flavors of slush, duh. The hot dog steamer and bun toaster are in fine working condition but downstairs in the kitchen for ease of use, and also I am drawing so much power in this room I don't want to throw the breaker. And really do you want to sit in a room that smells like steamed hot dogs all night? Lastly, before you point it out, yes I know my ceiling and floor is warped. It's as level as it gets. I worked with what I had. Also yes, I know its excessive for the acoustic treatment. The reason being is because of the size of the room I would rather have a "deadened" room entirely then trying to work with the "room modes". If you're a sound nerd you know what that means. Picture of the popcorn machine is from when I picked it up and did a test run. My house is not usually that messy lol.

Very nice. I wish I had the space in my house for a dedicated projection system and seating like that.

I have a digital projector that does 1080p and looks great, but I’ve been squirreling away cash each week and almost have enough for a 4K Optoma UHD60. Has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Apparently the blacks look amazing. I also have a working 1940 Bell and Howell 16mm, and another 1945 8mm. They are small enough to sit and run on the center seat when it folds down.

EDIT -- also be sure to check out the Internet Archive for a whole pile of bumpers:

My poor friends are forced to sit through these whenever I host a movie night.

Their website is blocked at my work for some reason, but Something Weird released a 6 volume set of Intermission bumpers called Hey Folks, It's Intermission Time. If the link doesn't work, they have them on their website under the Mega Sets section.

https://www.somethingweird.com/product_info.php?products_id=24061

And it looks like a couple of them are on youtube in full too.

Time for a little robot chauvinism!

Just cut out the intermission bit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail and run it on loop.

This seems like a very self destructive path to take considering you are one of the few people who get to sit through my movie nights!
