Liffrea posted:Same. If you're enjoying "despair" or getting off on "despair" (which Junko and the Remnants of Despair were clearly shown to in DR1& DR2)...well then it's not really "despair" then is it? Junko is portrayed as being aware of the contradiction, which only makes her psychosis worse. Likewise, it's more the case that the Remnants are, much like the Warriors, worshipping Junko without being really conscious of the implications of that. But I've come to the conclusion that when dealing with Junko, it's probably best not to think of her as a character in the story, but rather as an element of a game. Why do these things happen? Because there wouldn't be a game otherwise.

Because otherwise this isn't even a debate, it's just Ruruka being extremely lovely (and technically Sonozuke too, but that would require him not being just an extension of her). It's possible that Ruruka views it in those terms, but more likely that she is just an rear end in a top hat.

The end of this episode is what made me finally decide that, basically, Junko is just a plot device, and any discussion about her character and motivations is pointless.

Hobgoblin2099 posted:- Junko outfit in this episode is from Danganronpa Zero. Sadly, aside from the appearance of that spy kid I pointed out earlier, this is pretty much the only reference to that story. I believe that the individual who supplied the blood in that picture also makes a brief and uncredited cameo in this episode or possibly the one before it.
