Ugh I want to play this game, but I have 0 interest in hours of grinding. Many of the changes that the developers made are significant improvements over the actual series though.

It should be noted that from what I've played of the "Regular" storyline, it is pretty much just a pokemon plot but the bad guys are still called cults. However, no one's died or disappeared or anything so far. But yeah the grind is definitely real and I have about 2 hours on file and haven't even got through the cave on Route 1 because I'm trying to raise up some pokemon to be leveled well.

Especially when you remember that the Pokedex is not a common tool, it's what sets the protagonist apart from the NPCs. I realize the Anime has conditioned everyone with "Every starting trainer gets a Pokedex and a Starting pokemon." but the games are pointedly not like that.

Does Delta Dwebble still get Shell Smash? Because if so with Simple it can Triple it's attack, special attack and speed all in one turn.

It does learn shell smash. However, I'm not sure if there's any way to actually get one with simple because it's Delta Dwebble's hidden ability. Also: For posterity. Man it sounds like outside of the messed up level curve/tons of grinding this seems like a pretty decent game? I’m not convinced the story isn’t intentionally doofy, it reaches weirdly endearing at points. And who couldn’t forgive some dumb UI decisions for the good QoL ones they made and that super legit cake hermit crab? If I wasn’t up to my neck in things I want to play already I’d be seriously considering giving this a try.

The thing of putting Kickstarter backers etc. in your game is understandable but man, I can't name a single game where it hasn't been painfully obvious and immersion-breaking. Oh look, this medieval small-town baker is named James "SephirothSushi" Nguyen and has a neckbearded portrait obviously based off a photo, what a deep and consistent world we've got here

The answer is a side area with a few small rewards to entice people in, filled with credits for ideas and funding (if crowdfunded) hollow knight did it really well, for instance positing the idea of someone official enough to make it into the pokedex (yes, yes, 11 year olds, whatever, I assume someone has to edit for grammar,) going by "dankrabbit" is doing it very much not well

Even with 45 base speed it can outspeed literally anything (even scarfed) after a single Shell Smash. And it's got like 1200+ attack on top of that.
