I hadn't watched any of this season until last night because we promised to watch it all with a friend who's been busy. Got through the first 4 episodes, poo poo is good. Everyone said it was the best season yet, which everyone said for season 2. Show just keeps getting better, keeps upending the premise each season and never gets stale. The good place is weird because it manages to be this really light hearted accessible joke filled sitcom, darkly philosophical and cynical, thought provoking, and hopeful and feel good all at the same time.

When whats his butt head demon demanded horrible soul crushing music and Brian Adams came on all us Canadians just lost it, so good.

Actual ideal reformed X place:
-Everyone goes to a purgatory space set up to get them to see the error of their ways and teach them and mold them into the person they always had the potential be. There is no torture here, just various simulations to help people grow, reform, and learn.
-Once you graduate purgatory you get sent to the good place and as you now the best you could you be.

Simple, easy, actually ethical.

Everyone I told the season 1 spoiler to jumped into the show and loved it no problem. Everyone I tried to get into the show spoiler-free told me "I watched the first couple episodes and just aren't feeling it" and I'd have to go full spoiler to get them back in. I also only kept watching the show because I knew about the whole bad place situation.

It seems to be a good thing to let out of the bag for people who haven't given it a try yet, it's not like there aren't a million other great twists in store for them.

Exploitation and capitalism is sending everyone to hell, so the gang needs to go back to earth along with supernatural powers and usher in the immortal science.

I really don’t care if this is a thing or not since this show is too good but is Mindy St Clair a plot hole now? Wasn’t her thing that she was the only person to ever have a completely neutral score? But now we see that every other person is in the negatives due to capitalism, so is Mindy St Clair actually the best person because she is the closest anyone has gotten in 500 years to being in positive numbers?

The general idea is that the entire concept of the point system is hosed up and arbitrary. People used to get in more not because the system was at any point ever good or fair or consistent but despite the system. Because the system's so inflexible and dumb on every level it's not letting anyone in at all. Mindy's case was special, why was it special? Because of the arbitrary point values given to so many acts. She just managed to button-mash her life and half-press A in the right pattern to map-glitch into a medium place.

Ted Danson was in the most recent Orville episode and it was a real stinker and his guest role was a total waste.

When rumours of an actor being a piece of poo poo, a rapist, or just plain a pain in the rear end to work with comes up consistently from the crew and working class of the film industry it's generally true. When it's just a few producers/directors complaining about someone, specially a women, it's generally that she did something horrible like question why she was being paid half that of her male co-star.

Do they explain how Jason avoids dying in s3 when they go back to Earth? Because I imagine it's something like, Michael walks over and asks about their robbery plan and they slooooowly realize the big flaw. But then they still do it, just with airholes.

Don't they show Micheal just opening the door to the safe up?

Nerd conventions are full of overpriced everything, panels that should interest you but bore you after 2 minutes, and people who share your interests but annoy you after two sentences of conversation.

Nerd conventions are the real Bad Place.

(I'm a huge grump; I'm sure conventions are very fun for people who aren't me.)

Yeah, I got a free trip to PAX once and it was the most boring awkward thing I've ever seen. Pay to wait in lines to see commercials for videos games a day or two early, wow. Potentially interesting panels that... were not. Corporations hawking their commercials and a whole industry of over-priced embarassing nerd-chachkies. We all had way more fun just skipping the convention its self and wandering around Seattle.
