I can't believe how much they've changed about the status quo of the show this season, and it's so interesting.

I think Doug wouldn't make it to the Good Place based on what's been described by the show. He's shooting for a neutral score it seems. You have to actively engage in doing good to get points, not just avoid doing bad by living like a hermit.

LividLiquid posted:You ever just not get corrected for years, even when you're correcting other people and you realize that the source of your knowledge was dubious as gently caress to begin with and it's pretty embarrasing? Eh, English is weird. Plus no one ever sees this written out so it's a mute point

greententacle posted:I've been thinking, being pyschologically tortured, like in the fake Good Place, I think I could deal with that. But being physically tortured, like what's supposed to happen in the Bad Place, nuh-uh, no way! What do you think? Would you rather be physically or psychologically tortured? For sure psychologically. The demons have it right from the beginning. Getting hot pokers shoved up your urethra or whatever they do in the Bad Place would be much worse than passive aggressive party invites or whatever Michael had planned for his Bad Place.

They've also been talking about seeing the "accountants" lately. I think that episode will shed some light on precisely how the system is hosed.

Holy poo poo, they're just outright attacking capitalism now? I didn't think this show could get better and bam. Also the IHOP joke is brilliant. They've trained me to think that common American acronyms won't stand for the same thing, and then it's actually got "pancakes" in it.

Xelkelvos posted:They're not shouting out against Capitalism, per se, but if you read between the lines, it totally is. It's just that most people wont quite catch it or come to that conclusion. Yeah they won't be able to directly say "capitalism is a moral rot eating away our souls!" but that 60 seconds or so of Michael tallying up all the sins you can't escape in the system is about as radical as one can be on network TV.

A graceful exit at 4 is better than going until you start losing writers and cast and all that

I'm gonna assume every show fan who's checked out or bought "What We Owe to Each Other" has been massively disappointed and confused, it being a philosophy book and all.
