The only reason to make this fight is to coronate Shevchenko so its UFC CHAMPION Shevchenko to hype up the inevitable Joanna fight, when Shevchenko shouldn't need a belt to make that. Best case scenario is we get another Germaine De Randamie situation and we can all hold our head in our hands.

If I had to pinpoint an event where everything went wrong its UFC 200. An event with Brock Lesnar, Mark Hunt, Daniel Cormier, Anderso Silva, Jose Aldo, Frankie Edgar and Cain Velasquez. And I only remembered that from checking wikipedia - when I remmeber UFC 200 I remember a piss yellow mat and it being headlined by Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes after every other title fight fell through but drat it they needed a title in the main event and its been resulted in watered and watered down titles because they must be the main event no matter what. Though these days they would've just make Brock v Mark an interim title fight and called it a day. Note: Edgar v Aldo WAS for the interim featherweight championship, but they stuck it fourth from the top. If that had main evented it would've been better but back then interim was less than real belts, a distinction that's become more and more meaningless as the real belts. Edit also: The following fighters were awarded $50,000 bonuses:[44] Fight of the Night: Not awarded laffo

LobsterMobster posted:i get that 200 was a clusterfuck of titanic proportions, but Nunes thoroughly whipping Tate's rear end ruled oh in a vacuum it did, but it wasnt in a vacuum this was UFC 200, if this was on UFC 199 for example which lead to Bisping v Rockhold being the card of the year it would've ruled harder, its just the number had extra stakes attached.

(Eubanks apparently has a tough time making 125) She probably deserves the fight more anyway, but Eubanks was runner up in TUF so whatever. I let out a loud "WHO?" when reading this. She hasn't even been on a main card yet, but neither has Eubanks so whatever.

As much as I disagree with adding in mens weight classes at like 165/195, at least we know 165 would be filled with fighters of repute from both 155 and 170. When mens 125 debuted it had established names, and two different title challengers from 135. Womens 125 just seems like a wasteland. 135 and 115 are already established, with the 135 ones being too large for 125 (like I think the biggest example of a 135 champion who would've been 125 is Meisha Tate, and shes retired) and 115 thanks to Joanna dominance and Thug Rose being an actually interesting champion is a division people like. Best Friends posted:W135 looking more like a form of Aztec human sacrifice than even w145, impressive. I hope you meant 125.

“I know my father is going to smash me when I go home.” Well, he didn’t even wait that long. Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib’s father, has criticised his son’s behaviour at UFC 229, after the lightweight champion jumped into the crowd; instigating a wild brawl that marred what was an incredible fight. “I will be very hard on this,” Abdulmanap told Ren TV. “I warned him. For me, discipline comes first. You do whatever you want in the Octagon, [but] outside — this is the border of civilians, where there are children, women, strangers.” And while Khabib’s father was furious, he took responsibility for what took place. “Still, I am responsible for this,” Abdulmanap said. “This is my team. Despite the fact that I was not allowed to go to America, I do not relieve myself of responsibility.”

TMZ Sports quoted an anonymous cageside witness who claimed Danis was trash talking Nurmagomedov and drew a “death stare” by calling him a “f***ing Muslim rat”. “We spoke with a fan who was sitting in spitting distance from Danis during the fight — and we’re told Danis was running his mouth throughout most of the fight,” the report said. “There was a moment between the second and third rounds when Khabib shot a death stare right at Dillon, according to our witness who says it was obvious Khabib heard at least some of the insults. But, we’re told the final straw was the Muslim insult that Danis hurled toward the end of the fight.”
