I honestly think Smash Ultimate was one of the most hyped games in the last decade or so. Like from that first Splatoon-themed reveal all the way until Launch, everyone wouldn't stop talking about it. The fact that it launched in December adds a lot to that too.

It's actually kind of difficult to say what's up with Retro because Retro has kind of had a revolving door of dev teams since forever. Every Prime game had an almost totally unique dev team, and even between DKCR/Tropical Freeze had a lot of people come and go.

Their software sales have been pretty loving astronomical, which is were most money is actually made in this business. Believe it or not Console hardware is often sold at a loss, although last I heard Nintendo is still making money on Switch hardware.

I think that % you have on the side increases the amount of junk you send AND receive, and it's tied to how many badges you have. Getting a lot of badges is a super high risk/reward play.
