This looks like exactly the kind of game that I would love, but its a genre that could easily be hosed up and its just slightly too expensive for me to buy it on a whim (humble bundle my rear end). I have some research to do, hopefully youtube will be able to convince me one way or another. I will report back with my findings.

Picked up Fire Emblem. This game really exposes the Switch hardware for how out of date it is, doesn't it? I guess the insane aliasing and choppy framerate just stick out as uncharacteristic for first party Nintendo's typical standards. At least the writing is quite strong so far, even if the characters err on the side of trope.

I wouldn't call the hardware "outdated", its just more of a compromise. I only have a Switch Lite and I've been quite impressed with it. Considering the size/battery life/price I think they did an really good job with performance. I guess I could see it differently if I used it as a home console next to a Ps4 or something, but it feels exceptionally powerful for a handheld.

There is no way Void Bastards is as good as it looks, right

I watched a ton of videos and it pushed me over the edge so I ended up buying it. Void Bastards is totally worth it! I'm spoiled and used to paying $20 for Triple-Indy games, but this was worth the $40. If the idea of "randomly generated System Shock" gets you excited Void Bastards will be worth every penny.

It was actually the atmosphere and the soundtrack that was the straw the broke the camels back. It feels like the Subnautica universe.

I kinda hate the joycon's fragility. Mine are fine for now. I was able to fix one incidence of drift on my left handed one a year or so back, but ever since then I do everything in my power to not use the joy-sticks, opting to only play games that use the d-pad handheld, which is super limiting and frankly, goes against the point of the system. So I play a lot of table-top but it's annoying at times. I'm ok using the right-handed joy-stick a bit more sense it never gets used.

I get the feeling that were I to use them I'd just be drastically decreasing their life span. I want to play Deadly Premonition, Dragon's Dogma, RE4, or Assassin's Creed, but I imagine all 4 use the sticks excessively, so I'll have to wait until I can play them tabletop or on a screen.

Sorry just griping.

I imagine Streets of Rage 4 uses the d-pad? Thank goodness for indies and smaller titles like that. I was originally going to make Shinsekai my next cheaper title, but it'll probably be Streets of Rage 4 instead because I got into the series hard recently.

Is this joycon drift issue really so common? I assumed it was just a matter of Switch being a kids console, so lots of 12 year old were going to town on those joycons and ruining them. Considering I only have a Switch Lite I don't want it to get messed up :ohdear:

I guess the nintendo eshop isn't all that bad, you just have to wait for the deals. Nintendos in-console shop is absolutely awful, but once I found https://www.dekudeals.com/ I was able to look at the price history of most games and understand how it all works. Games are only reasonably priced about half of the time, so that they can have a juicy "70% off!" sticker on them the other half of the time.

It runs pretty flawlessly on my Switch Lite. I guess thats to be expected its kind of old. It is basically just Diablo. On the small Switch Lite screen your character is very tiny, but you can zoom in if you want so thats not a problem. I love the music, its sounds like they stole the soundtrack directly from Diablo II.

I suppose Diablo III is likely superior but $16 is a much easier to ask of me than $80 :v:

Night Trap tells the story of five teenage girls spending the weekend at the Martin home. As a member of the Special Control Attack Team, your job is to monitor the home and protect the girls using an intricate system of cameras and traps as it is being invaded by vampires.

Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition also includes new features such as deleted scenes, two documentaries, the all-new Theater that allows you to watch all story-related videos uninterrupted, a new mode called Survivor that will test your skills at trapping intruders and behind the scenes production images. There's a reason why Nintendo is essentially positioning the Switch Lite as their new handheld, even at the cost of cannibalizing the end of the 3ds's life cycle. I doubt Nintendo is going to release a dedicated handheld independent of the Switch anytime soon either, and is likely to stick with their hybrid portable console strategy for a while.

The Switch Lite is 100% their new handheld. The thing is the size of a GBA and it fits in my pocket, why would I need anything smaller? I honestly wasn't even interested in Switch until the lite came out. The normal one is just slightly too large.

Its a brilliant strategy really, to merge the console and handheld. Computer power and graphics have really started to taper off over the last few years. The leap to PS5 is much less impressive than PS4, and lots of modern games have a style that isn't graphics intensive.

Thankfully in the years after Switch's release mobile companies have been scrambling to adapt the Joycon experience to mobile.

Just for example Razer's already got the Junglecat out and they're working on the Kishi. ASUS' super cutting edge ROG Phone 2 has a Joycon-like attachment you can buy and the phone itself has programmable button mapping for it on a system level so you can turn any touch-only game into a physically controlled one too. ASUS even has a Switch-dock you can plug the darn thing into your TV! With the way the world is right now it's probably going to be a little while before we see these kinds of devices hit a much grander scale and support a larger array of devices, but there's definitely a movement in mobile tech to accommodate people who want the Switch-like experience on a phone.

This isn't really new, these things has existed for ages in many forms. Nintendo just refined what a dozen different chinese companies were already doing. I bought this android tablet called the DEA Factory Myplay from walmat back in 2012
