You need the ring to fight the boss but the game couldn't be any more clear about it without straight up telling you, you need to either be cursed, use a transient curse item or have an occult(?) weapon to damage the ghosts in that area though. Stuff like that is because Souls games are explicitly designed around the community figuring out stuff instead of doing it all yourself.

It's a remake of the first game which is like 15 years old and pretty clunky compared to the newer ones so, I've no idea how much it's changed though.

It's always nuts when I see speed runners quick switch equipment in the middle of a boss fight or whatever, I've beaten the games multiple times but never come close to being comfortable enough to do that.

Death means nothing in Dark Souls so it doesn't matter if you die. Getting cursed is bad luck tho (even though it happens to everyone) rip

Eh I love Dark Souls but Monster Hunter has none of the things I enjoy about it and I find it pretty boring and grindy. You're not guaranteed to like both.

Yeah DS1 is fine until you beat O&S then it's downhill all the way, apart from the dlc. I guess the weird prison place that looks like something out of Demon's is okay too.

The game was running over budget and over time because the team was mostly inexperienced people and Square management told them to wrap it where they were and that's how disc 2 happened.
