I genuinely don't understand why people are having a heart attack about a dude filling in details that the show decided to skip.

Wark Say posted:Yeah, this rule is still in place. If it's gonna happen in the anime, don't talk about it here. I feel like this is genuinely dumb policy. It was understandable when the guy was constantly talking about things that were gonna happen, but filling in stuff the anime is skipping because it's rushing through (and still putting it in spoiler tags as a courtesy) is the most non-issue thing I've ever seen. You shouldn't have to go to a thread talking about the series as a whole - future events included - to fill in skipped details.

Mirage posted:One of the problems with spoiling one medium with information from another medium is that the people putting together the anime may have deliberately rearranged stuff from the manga/LN. "Hey that guy has this huge backstory" might actually turn out to be a spoiler if they go into it next episode, for instance. That is, presumably, why he bothers to put the info in spoiler tags. But there is also nothing to indicate that these things are going to be revisited. The show is blatantly taking the "rush the gently caress through to hit some specific parts, and folks can buy the manga/LN if they want to know the in-between" approach.

Captain Invictus posted:also the one piece anime is terrible because it is pretty much the last bastion of neverending weekly shonen animes, everyone else has long since switched to a normal anime seasonal style Ehhh, up through Enies Lobby it was perfectly fine (though obviously declining as that arc went on). It would have taken years for the quality to become an issue, and at that point and assuming actual competent handling it pretty easily could have built up the insane fandom that, say, Naruto watchers had where they'd sit through endless loving filler and terrible pacing with a smile on their face and angry messages to anyone who would say anything the slightest bit negative in their hearts.
