Yeah, there's been other kings and queens before, but none called this exact name, so he's George the First or what have you. Sheev had the first empire named that, rather than the first empire of that size.

Bad Batch had positive mutations which is why they got to be deployed. Bad mutations like 99 who can barely function get regulated to base work at best.

Yeah, perhaps I was unclear. They need something to counterbalance their expertise and superiority in combat in order to make them interesting.

I'm still of the idea they should do a special TCW "Season 0" which is a 15-20 episode season featuring Durge, showing Anakin get his knighthood and being introduced to Rex, etc.. More or less a revamped canon take of the first half of the Gendy series. Something that would act as a better opener for TCW now that Chronological order is the go to for some new watchers.

On my The Clone Wars watch: "Bounty Hunters" is one of the worst episodes of The Clone Wars -- a standard "Obi-Wan and Anakin teach farmers to defend themselves from pirates" plot without anything to distinguish it from countless others. "The Zillo Beast", on the other hand, is one of the best episodes so far. It's the first with Palpatine as the bad guy of the episode, as opposed to subtle involvement like telling Padme to exit hyperspace right at a location ripe for being taken as a Separatist hostage. galenanorth fucked around with this message at 22:45 on Mar 18, 2021 |

I watched the five episodes centered on the Second Battle of Geonosis. It had some really good subtle moments, like Anakin being surprised that Padme would be friends with a member of the Banking Clan, and Anakin replying "No, it's not that" to Luminara when she asks if the problem is that he doesn't think Ahsoka can successfully complete her mission, because he doesn't want to admit that he's attached to his Padawan out loud, before it ramps up in full with Anakin using force choking to torture information from a Geonosian on how to defeat the brain parasites infesting Ahsoka's ship. I liked that the Jedi seemed exhausted in the first few episodes. It seems like the brain parasites could've easily already spread to other planets, given that the Geonosian queen had every moment in previous time to spread them, if she had wanted, and that episode being the first time it happened was a coincidence.

Funky Valentine posted:Sucks that Luminara was offed like she was, we never got to see her reaction to Barriss going insane. It's interesting how they've left Barriss's fate as a mystery. Unlike say Shaak-Ti where they can't decide which deleted scene is what killed her, they've never said she joined the Sith or died during the purge or something else. It really feels like its been left open so someone with a good idea can pick up that thread and run with it. My fanfic version of Episode 9 had her joining the Hidden Sith but regretting it, as her intentions to oppose the war were abused and manipulated to bring about an age of darkness. I really should write that up from the notes I made because honestly, its way better than Episode 9; Palpatine is just a ghost that Rey mocks, there is a civil war in the First Order, Hux is a prisoner of the heroes for most of the movie, said heroes are together for almost the entire story, we find out that the force brought them all together becuase they are the next generation of jedi. The fan wankiest part is when they go into palpatines vault, one of the Observatories rather than death star ruins, and they find the light sabers of a bunch of jedi masters and have to fight a Destroyer than is partially the remains of Grevious.

Barriss becoming in Inquisitor always made sense to me. She had already convinced herself the Jedi were evil warmongers, it wouldn't take much to convince her that hunting down the remaining ones was the right thing to do.

Palpatine really enjoys himself in that episode. Not only does he get to torture a sentient being, he gets to force an ethical, well intentioned scientist to do it for him. He's giving himself mini-vacation to indulge in evil for its own sake, like Dooku letting himself be captured by pirates so he can have a few days off to meditate.
