She'll get *some* poo poo on her simply for having been there, but the bulk of it will fly in the faces of the local governor and the grunts who didn't fash hard enough.

Keep in mind that the commander on the ground technically outranked Dedra (four blue to her three) but it was very clear that she had operational control with regards to Andor's capture, but *not* riot control and suppression. Seeing as Andor was never positively identified and the only person who claimed to have seen him is dead (along with her adjutant), she can simply claim that Andor must not have showed up.

It's been made very clear in this show that you don't get to the ISB without knowing how to dodge and reassign blame.

She's a loose cannon. Vel is never even able to communicate to her Luthen's new directive that they wait for the Empire to capture Andor and then kill him before they can secure him in the hotel. It isn't clear if she shadows obvious Imperial spy back to the hotel to see him "arrest" an informant, but she opts to stay after the spy instead of watching Dedra and her escort, or keeping an eye on the actual funeral itself? Why? And does she screw up following the guy and get forced to kill him, or does she deliberately follow closely because she wants to kill him? Killing him doesn't help the mission at all, but from what we see on screen, she kills him and then goes back to her apartment immediately. Isn't Andor still out there so far as she knows? Has she just given it up as impractical?

She knows that Luthen and Vel have a dumb overly convoluted plan and like playing spy games. New Plan: Follow the ISB guy -> Either he finds Andor and she kills them both, or she kills just the ISB guy. Its a Win Win

Nah, Blevin's not going to let this one slide. She was given his sector and immediately saw it descend into an uprising. He's got a pretty good case that she's incompetent and the sector should be returned to his oversight, at the least.

Like the prefect can even say he had intended to deny the permit but ISB meddling had forced him to allow the funeral, then when he attempted to position snipers to overlook the intersection the ISB again meddled and pulled them back. The snipers might have been able to take out the kid throwing the bomb which might have meant the kettling could have continued to hold. I can't imagine he'll face many consequences either.

Blevin installed the governor who hosed everything up, pulled security from the prison and allowed the only witness they had on Axis to escape with the suspect they wanted to lead them to Axis. With a good argument Deedra could skate out of this unscathed.

Pretty sure the prefect/governor/whatever also had Salman Paak killed, radicalizing his kid and not monitoring him. He's a perfect scapegoat.

this is a great point. i always thought the scene where that guy gets his little promotion and all that was cute but stuck out since this show usually is super economical about what it shows us, and that didn't seem to have any obvious connection to anything. could totally see that guy being key to how dedra gets out of this, though still setting her up as "needing a win" at the outset of season 2 and having her entire career on the line, and maybe having her duties reduced to just "find andor/axis" since that'd be the only thing she cares about

That loving ruled. The building of tension of the funeral, the escalation, the music, everything was so great. Mon Mothma is ice loving cold and I respect her for it.

Just really loved the big guy (forgot his name) holding the rock and just knowing aw poo poo she asked him to literally bash the fash with her ash(es) that's beautiful and then he did and it was awesome. I half expected as the climax to the tension was building for some extra to look over at a wall and realize a rock was missing only to have everyone in the parade pull out their rocks and heave them.

I also really like how Rebellion is messy and ugly. She sparked a rebellion and it got people massacred. The brutal crackdown will affect everyone on the planet. Yet you still have Anvil Guy straight up Sparta-ing a Stormtrooper because it's better to be awake. Just great.

Really loved it - may be my favorite Star Wars content ever...?!

edit: did everyone stay on for the post-credits reveal? Again super satisfying. I appreciate the show doesn't hold your hand and shows not tells with details like this and also the performances like Luthen's smile.

You want to follow someone to Andor, follow Dedra and her guards moving purposefully toward another building. Following undercover guy who is alone and walking away accomplishes only one thing: you can kill the guy. If anyone cares, she could claim that he could identify her, but why in the world would he do that? He's unlikely to stick around, and if he did and she's gone, why would he think "she must be a rebel" and not "she must have gotten arrested or killed during the riot"?

She is clearly dedicated to the cause, but she isn't committed to taking down the Empire for any reason besides being able to kill as many Imperials as she can. Even Saw has more ideology driving him than Cinta. Her seriousness and focus on the "mission" are ultimately in service to killing as many Imperials as possible. That doesn't make her wrong, but it does mean her purposes won't always run parallel to Luthen's. Note too how she seems to have deliberately closed so she could knife that guy, and that knifing him and getting his blood on her hands was her objective. She doesn't wipe it off on his clothing, she isn't even in a hurry to wash it off when she gets home. She's dangerous. The people who seem most in control are the ones you really have to worry about losing it.

As for Dedra, I predict she gets a sideways promotion. She loses her sectors, but she's put on a full-time "finding Axis" job instead. That gets her out of the ladder climb and harnesses her existing drive to a desire to redeem herself. It also means that she'll either be working at cross-purposes with the sector chiefs or she'll be constantly getting undermined by them, but that's the sort of "competitive" bureaucratic structure the ISB is all about.

Depends on if S2 starts one year later or waits to take the first time-jump. If it waits, there's more opportunity to see her redeeming herself (and Syril, too, perhaps?).

At this point, I think we can all agree Syril is the true hero of Andor. He sidestepped bureaucracy in pursuit of justice for two murdered colleagues. Starting from almost zero, he searched the entire GALAXY and found the murderer in 48 hours. Later, he again uses his meager resources to accurately predict the murderer's movements. In doing so, he bears witness to calamity and saves the life of a critically important ISB agent.

The show should be called Karn.

Following a uniformed ISB officer and her fully armed soldiers is a quick way to get nabbed and at a minimum interrogated. Dedra's ISB undercover guy was the only middling agent not getting backup by guys with big guns and armor and was the clear choice to follow.

Also I think Cinta is smart enough to know that Cass isn't going to get caught by something as blatant as a strike team moving across a main road. Dedra is not stealthy despite her "give me a small team" order

Possibly, but that wasn't my point. It happens at least a day, probably a few days, after Andor dies in Rogue One, so the event won't be depicted in the show.
At most, we may get some lines from someone near the end of season two that Palpatine is planning to dissolve the Senate - we may possibly even see events that will lead to him making that decision.
