I know it's the internet and people will make 30 minute hate videos on anything, but I stumbled across such a video and genuinely thought the consensus was people liked Rebels once it got rolling.

Instead of watching Rebels I just started watching Clone Wars (and will get to the former). It was pretty good even if I was not entirely prepared for Truman Capote Hutt.

This is my main issue with it. Would a Mass Effect tier character customization system have been so hard? Apparently a developer claimed they didn't want a female character because it would "compete" with Rey which is a real galaxy-brain take. Other than that the game looks pretty cool, especially his little droid friend.

Character customization does apparently eat up a ton of space on a game, so they could have at least said that and it be true. (The answer about competing with Rey is dumb, though.)

Two further thoughts from Clone Wars - one is how quickly I warmed up to Ahsoka. She's cool and good once they drop "Sky-guy" from her vocab.

The other is, oh, yeah, Aurra Sing used to be a thing.

I remember all of the message boards and fan magazines prior to Episode 1 hyping up Aurra Sing as the next big thing, "Babe Fett" etc. And then she's in the movie in a cutaway shot for like half a second and never shows up again in that trilogy.

Yeah. I mean, she was all over the comics I know, but aside from that it didn't really happen, probably at least because Fett actually got two lines of dialogue and a full body shot.

And then Sing would go on to be killed by Woody Harrelson and it's hard to live that down.

Yeah. The whole series could should just be her pinballing between situations where she's not quite as smart as she thinks she is or lets being super amoral (mostly) get her in trouble. Spoilers because if goons haven't read Aphra's comic they should:

Aphra is the only person I know who could make having her two psychotic droids leaving her seem like a defeat.

There's a really nice scene in Clone Wars where Ahsoka has her crush on Lux and Anakin both A) spots it right away and B) doesn't tell her it's not okay but more that she should keep focus.

I have seen people complain they don't know how long The Mandalorian can go on because there's no over-arching plot because I guess we've forgotten what 'episodic' means. Have Gun - Will Travel lasted for 200+ episodes. Pretty sure Mando'll be alright.

Watching Clone Wars it strikes me that when I was younger with more time on my hands I would have probably been a little irritated that Ahsoka starting to use a second lightsaber was never really touched on aside from her just doing it one episode. Now that I'm happy not to stress over that sort of thing I just imagine something like:

Obi-Wan: "Ahsoka, one saber, one soul, one Force."
Ahsoka: "Nah, two hands."

There was an episode I just finished where she's chaperoning a bunch of Jedi kids who got their lightsaber crystals and I honestly kept waiting for her to go all Alien: Isolation on Hondo's crew once she was alone (so not unlike the last Mando episode) but alas.

Yeah. And while it's find to have new species and whatnot, I feel like FIloni would also give us more recognizable aliens too. Like I feel positive unless Favreau is an even bigger SW nerd than I thought, which is possible, it's Dave going 'no make them a Twi'lek.'

The comics have fared a little better because you have Soule’s Poe and Vader runs, Aphra, and a couple of decent one-shot comics, but the main line was dire and lovely for most of its run because the writers never nailed the “voice” of each character, the stories were totally inconsequential, and the art was literally traced from screencaps.

I keep hearing people talk about how the artist (Larocca, I'd guess) swiped fan designs for his stuff.

It’s a throwaway account, so who knows. Rumors of a new show have been coming fast and frequent for a while and we should know something concrete relatively soon either way.

It's interesting how much the post plays the long odds and the short odds. The stuff that it's super easy to guess are the things like there could very likely be Chiss because we had Thrawn and if there's a new Chiss then it might be related to Thrawn. That's logical. Also if we were bound to get the Rakata mentioned at some point in the new canon because people still like KOTOR. Then it becomes required to have your daily salt intake.

Dawgstar
Jul 15, 2017

While constantly going back to Tattooine is whatever, I like the idea pulled from (I think) the first KOTOR* that civilization essentially exists in cycles on the planet. Colonists and maybe a company come down, thinking there's something to the planet. Nope! It's just a ball of desert that hates you. So they leave, or get stepped on by a krayt dragon, or whatever and then a few centuries later somebody with the exact same notion tries again. Jawas and the Tusken Raiders go about scavenging whatever they leave behind and before you know it, some more off-worlders are back to try again and naturally they pick what used to be Mos Espa or Eisley because they're as good as it gets when it comes to ideal locations on the planet so of course they keep being built on again.

*I've also learned to never discount the influence of West End Games on Star Wars lore, either.
