I just started episode 3. The Darth Vader clamps in the bacta tank reminds me of a friend of mine from High School. We were all on Planet Quake so odds are he became a goon. Anyway, we were at a latchkey friend's house and while most of us were loving around on computers he went off to the garage to masturbate, like one does (Ahhh to be 13 again). While there he saw the jumper cables and decided he could use them to increase his sexual pleasure by applying them to his nipples. Out of nowhere we hear this blood curdling scream from the garage and run there to find him a complete bloody mess with his pants down. It was amazing. He had chopped off his nipples. Screaming, still erect, running around. Anyway, the Darth Vader clamps reminded me of that story. And based on reviews, that will probably be the highlight of the episode for me.

It's real weird. Mando looks great. The Boba Mando episode with the ringworld looked great. The hanger scene in this episode looked like an old AVI video game. I dug it because it reminded me of hokey scenes from Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight/Rebel Assault/Command and Conquer but I don't think that is what they were going for. The mods from Boba had the same problem. They looked like peak 90s technology despite being the most star wars thing ever.

Thrawn is so loving dumb. The worst thing about Rebels (any nu SW really but later seasons Rebels did it a lot) is when they try to insert stuff from the terrible old EU.

nine-gear crow posted:It's the forgone conclusion of being a prequel. Nothing can happen to Obi-Wan, nothing can happen to Leia, nothing can happen to Vader. The story is trapped in a box. I feel like part of the problem is that the choose the wrong characters. Nobody complains that we "know" what happens in any kind of real world historical movie. Band of Brothers isn't cheapened by going in knowing the Allies win the war. Inglorious Basterds isn't "trapped in a box" just because we know Hitler dies in a theater. Rambo isn't bad because we know that ex-soldiers led a proletarian revolution against the police in what would become the Oregon Free State.

Everyone posted:I want to see that Rambo movie about the proletariat vs cops revolution and I could listen to Brad Pitt as Aldo Raine all day long because that accent is almost its own character. I like the youtube comments at the top where people fail to understand that Aldo survived a lynching.

I like that a show that started with a school shooting ended with a literal child literally arming herself and talking about how that's how it's going to be from now on. Also evidently alderaan has weapons now.

The Prequels had a lot of good ideas. They are also exhibit A for the contentious "Star Wars was saved in the edit" theory. Lucas has lot of good ideas and some really loving terrible ones. He struggles with communicating his good ideas clearly while his bad ideas are as obvious as a blood stained prom dress and just as tacky.

I'm still at a loss as to how Mando consistently looks so good while Boba and Larry looked so terrible.

I don't know if it is true but I always loved the story about phantom anakin picking up girls with the "are you an angel?" line and then watching them copulate with dogs. Even if it isn't true it feels true to life.

We really need the robot DeeVeeToo to show up and talk about how Mon Mothma hates freedom. I was on Alderaan! He was on Alderaan? You oversaw munitions plant on Alderaan! And a lot of good people died in that factory! 2nd Amendment fucked around with this message at 02:15 on Oct 6, 2022 |

People don't appreciate the pine tree until autumn. Mon Mothma and her husband probably didn't disagree much during the Republic because they are creatures of the system. During the war, they were both hawks but as the war progressed they found out they were hawks for different reasons. The divide grew from there. It happens again and again. It happened with Carter, it happened with Clinton, it happened with Obama and Hillary. Then it bubbles to the surface with Biden when people were unwilling to let the status quo of the noble republic that had become the evil empire stand.

Galaga Galaxian posted:One of them also had the specter of other Imperials saying "she got where she was because she was Tarkin's lover" hanging over them, so boys club was definitely a thing being displayed even with that character. Not that Canon matters or exists but wasn't Tarkin a catamite in the EU? There was a story where his storm trooper lover was doing something? I never read the EU but I had friends who did so my second hand experience may be influenced by fanfiction.

1) Could someone please retweet the fault in our death stars trailer? I'm trying to get my husband to watch this show and Syril's "Life made no sense without you" is a line I've used on him. 2) I like how this show is taking inspiration from inspiration and includes a good follow-up on history of the world part II. 3) Given the recent Tarkin storm stronger chat I feel the next season should involve an assassination attempt. It's impossible to get to him... but he's the grand marshal at the Imperial Pride Parade on Couresacant! Andor wants to do a traditional sniper attack but what if the Rebels had someone who was a member of the senatorial class who could also be at pride? Maybe there is a scene where Vel rolls her eyes and explains that we don't all know each other ... but in this particular case she may have a contact. A real Valkyrie story.

There is always plenty to play around with in Star Wars. Mando S1 eas a nice return to Spaghetti Westerns meets Kurasowa. Andor is a nice return to the prestige films of the '70s. It's not a hard formula: pick an old genre and put it in space.

While Solo is a mess it's probably my favorite Disney SW film because it does have some sweet noir elements to it. Really committing to it with Sam Shitto would be great. Love Rat posted:I'm waiting for my founding of the Republic Macross-style love triangle romance with hotshot pilots and catchy idol pop songs. I'd love a Macross-style robo-drama in SW. I'd prefer it be on the caste side since it's for children. But an edgy Tween series with love triangles and making out would be fine.
