Kind of funny to me that essentially the first Storm Troopers are getting trained by an expert marksman

Megillah Gorilla posted:I wonder, for those who never watched Rebels, how would the last episode have come across? I haven't seen Rebels, partially because I didn't like the first few episodes the first time around but also because I was working my way towards them from Clone Wars and I managed to finish season 7 right as this started and it kind of naturally flowed into it. For me I enjoyed it as a check in on Ryloth after not hearing about them for a while, but it was kind of obvious maybe I was looking at already established characters. Kind of like how a kid with a grown rear end man's voice showed up in ep 1. I think it was Rebels I watched, I might have somehow seen like 4 episodes of Resistance instead? E: oh it was Rebels, I know I didnt like the art but I also know it didn't look as bad as Resistance eughhk Shoehead fucked around with this message at 12:04 on Jul 10, 2021 |

My dream EU show or cartoon would be about a broken Mace Windu living in the bowels of the Corusant underworld, so part of me would hope he's not in a Ben Kenobi show E: Like basically Mace ends up as Yojimbo

Robot Style posted:They kind of discussed it when talking about the costume - stuff like his robe in the movie actually being brown but people remember it as black. They specifically wanted to hit people's nostalgia to help sell the effect of the character, so deliberately went with a "this is what you remember" version of Luke rather than strictly depicting the reality. Yeah to me he looked like they'd ripped him from the cover of some New Republic era EU book from the 90s. It hit that nostalgia point for me hard.

No Luck Needed posted:Kenobi is irredeemable after letting the first Jedi he meets die and get strung up cartel style. How am I suppose to care about sad-sack Kenobi who let an honest-to-good jedi die? Nothing Kenobi does going forward is going to wash the blood from his hands of not helping that first jedi but the show will never mention it again, it was a plot point to show how down in the dumps Kenobi is and how he is not acting like a jedi. But how am I suppose to watch a show about a sad-sack that just let a dude die? You're right, go watch Selling Sunset instead, friend

Enjoyed that second one a lot, lots of little nice touches like Leia wearing a green poncho like on Endor Leia, mother of Ben Solo saying "Ben" doesn't sound like a Jedi's name The toy Y-Wing being a model Luke has in ANH

Dave Syndrome posted:I was listening to Rebel Force Radio today for the first time again in a long while, and the two hosts were speculating "which of the guys" Cinta was "sharing her blanket" with. Vel was mentioned as an afterthought with a laugh, after the option "maybe all of the guys, LOL". Lmao I figured it was her and then her later saying "She didn't even tell me" was proof enough for me. I like that even though, or perhaps maybe BECAUSE he was told Cinta was taken he like almost absent mindedly started trying to charm her. I can see how he gets in so much trouble.

I'm kind of hoping for there not to be a redemption arc for Karn, or at least not one we as viewers are sympathetic to, so we can have a moment where he finally confronts Cassian and berates him for ruining his life and Cassian doesn't even remember him because he saw his face for less than a minute once.

chitoryu12 posted:Mon Mothma's entire deal with Saw Gerrera is that she doesn't like stochastic terrorism. His random violence isn't particularly effective most of the time at actually fighting the Empire and tends to result in harsher crackdowns or the loss of valuable Rebel assets. She, Bail, and Luthen are trying to build an organized rebellion that can enact good plans instead of just car bombing poo poo and hoping it makes Palpatine give up. Car bombing poo poo and hoping the [insert ruler] gives up has historically worked very well irl though. From what I've seen of Saw though, he does go off the deep end

I wonder how useful a space port is at the exact spot in the sacred valley that gets blasted with particles and shuts down space flight for a day every 3 years is. I assume whatever makes this the key point for the eye also makes it a great spot for the port. Also great episode, great show. I don't think I've ever watched SW while feeling so tense! I'm very grateful for the 2 episodes of setup for this one too. I feel like maybe other shows I'm watching lately need to end an ep on a big note or a cliffhanger and would have maybe started the heist early or mid episode 5 with a complication hitting right at the end, just to keep a viewer in suspense for next week. But here we know the heist is happening tomorrow, we know its next episode and then we just get a banger to watch the whole way through for 40ish minutes. Great pacing. I wonder how it'll feel when I inevitably rewatch the whole show over a weekend?

We know at the very least that wookies were segregated into their own labour camps by the Empire. They don't seem to like mixed groups. I imagine they'd think a mixed group of prisoners would be too unpredictable, they seem to like setting up different solutions to managing prisoner populations. Apparently in the current EU they had everyone on Kashyyyk fitted with inhibitor chips.

i say swears online posted:where was the hint that mondaughter would ever go trad? I thought it was way too convenient to the betrothal plot I dunno about hints but I do think this is keeping in theme with this show's approach to cultural identity. Earlier we saw the Aldani struggling to keep their customs alive and here we have this daughter of 2 people very much burned by Chandrillan customs embracing them. It makes sense to me that she would though, as a 2nd generation ex-pat she probably wanted to know more about where she was from. I could see her heading home at some point and being disappointed, like Worf, where she's like don't you say this morning prayer and her cousin or whoever is like "oh uh yeah I guess"
