VAT they're probably on their own but if the pound tanks then it'd just be like canada and the nhl which wasn't great for the teams but the players were ok because the salary cap is calculated in dollars. NHL had some kind of CAD/USD escrow too, iirc.

talent-wise there's not really that many players the specifically chase dollars above everything else, and if marginal veterans tend to avoid london then that's more salary cap they can spend on guys willing to go to london, so uhh who knows.

Completely blank
I worry about the fanbase for a London franchise in the long term. The NFL is fairly well supported in the UK, but that's spread across 32 teams, not one. Especially not one in London, which a lot of non-Londoners have a problem with. It's not like all or most of the UK fans are going to stop supporting their current NFL team just because there's new a team in London.

And then you've got the same problem as the LA teams have faced - there's plenty else to do in London, so if the team isn't performing, people just won't go. I dunno, I think it'd start OK but even with a big surge in popularity, the NFL still isn't anything like big here.

I think the Dolphins have the biggest following. Football was popular over here in the mid 80's and everyone was on the Marino train.

I wanted a Dolphins shirt for my birthday, so naturally my parents got me a Rams shirt instead.

It's both of these. London is hell to get to if you don't live there, and as a British Lions fan who got used to reading the results in Monday's or Tuesdays or even Wednesdays papers due to the time difference in the pre-internet days of the 1990s, I'm not going to just support a London-based team just because Roger says I should. I would give the team 10 years before it's given a mercy killing and sent back stateside. I am though all for spreading games around Europe and even in places that aren't London too

this is getting a lot of attention and if you read the article/interview it's from it's clear the reporter was skewing the comments to make it sound worse

HHCD's happy in Green Bay and likes playing in Pettine's defense, but the reality of the matter is that it's his contract year and he has to play as if he's interviewing for a job because he is. The Packers didn't extend him, so the Packers are now 1 of 32 teams that could be interested in him this offseason, so it's entirely reasonable to not necessarily expect that he'll be coming back.

Yeah, the State Journal writer was very, very grossly misinterpreting his comments and using terminology to make everything look worse, probably because everyone, including the media, has the knives out for McCarthy.

I took the octopath less travelered,

And it made one-eighth the difference.
Trade two firsts for Josh Allen.

quote:

Through five games (really four and a half), Allen has now amassed -446 DYAR and a -63.0% DVOA. The single-season records are -1,130 DYAR, set by David Carr with the expansion Texans in 2002, and -74.8%, set by Jared Goff as a rookie in 2016. Allen must now be considered a serious threat to both records -- assuming he lasts the full season. He has taken a league-high 19 sacks, putting him on pace for more than 60, a number that has only been hit eight times in league history.

To be slightly fair, everyone knew he was raw as hell and needs a year to acclimate to the NFL, AND he has probably the worst supporting offensive cast in the league.

But yeah, even forgiving all that, he has a skillset that is not really what you're looking for for a modern QB.

He at least doesn't look completely out-of-place in an NFL offense though, which is more than can be said for much of our offensive line and all of our receivers.

At least he’s not Nathan Peterman. As much as he’s struggled, Allen has not completely melted down after one half of actual game time.

I really hope Allen gets a minor not-serious injury that results in one full Nathan Peterman game.

What have you seen that makes you say that? I haven't watched any Bills games, so don't know anything except boxscores and that your offense is gross on paper, but looks like he's basically bottom of the league in every passing stat, down there with Bradford and Tyrod Taylor.
