I’ve been less bothered by NewGreg then some people, but I really think it was a mistake to reprise “Hey, West Covina.” Skylar can get the Greg cadence down pretty well on the spoken lines, but their singing voices are not similar at all and I really missed Santino.

He plays for the dreamers that forgot how to dream, and the lovers that forgot how to love.
I like the repeated thing of Rebecca noticing old patterns reappearing in time to do something about them, like when she realises her feelings for Nathaniel are returning alongside Josh and Greg and she's just like "...dammit..."

I don’t think it was really parodying any specific composer. The way the director talked about redefining musical theater implied Rodgers and Hammerstein, but those were not R&H style songs. I think they were just parodying the way old songs come off differently to modern ears.
The closest may have been Irving Berlin’s Annie Get Your Gun but while that show has some issues it is far cleverer than what the parodies were.

You can really see Gabrielle Ruiz's dance background in this. I wish they'd taken more advantage of that over the course of the show. But I'm eagerly awaiting to see her do more comedy work because she's consistently hilarious.

I also wanna hear the song "Good Bosses and Friends Let Their Employees Work Elsewhere if Need Be"

Rebecca's song seems to have been inspired by "I'm Just A Girl Who Can't Say No" but beyond that, yeah.

It was interesting how they handled the characters not being good singers. Rebecca was obviously off but they also made Valencia kinda pitch-y, something training might fix but it's amateur dramatics so who cares.

Man it has been forever since I've seen Cheri Oteri in something. Almost didn't recognize her.

So what do we think Rebecca is gonna choose?

-Josh
-Greg
-Nathaniel
-Valencia leaves Beth for Rebecca and Rebecca locks her in the basement and makes her be her personal trainer
-None of the above, moves in with AJ to become The Snarkiest Home In West Covina and just watches gay porn forever

I've said this before, but I'd be a little wary of doing that ending because Rebecca's already learned the lesson that she needs to work on herself, and it's not like mental illness bars you outright from lasting relationships. Rebecca has tried swearing off love altogether before, and it never sticks.

That said I don't see how she can really "choose" any of these guys either- not in the time we've got left anyway.

The last episode is followed by a televised stage show of their favourite songs from the series (so I'm not expecting much from season 4).

I mean, he's not really the same person he was two years ago. If you'd compare, say Valencia, to her from season one with a different actor, she wouldn't feel all that similar. Or an even stronger example. If you had only seen season one and for some reason someone else would play Rebecca now, would they feel like a real replacement.

Greg not being quite as much of a alcoholic misanthrope is fully intentional. It kinda sucks, that we didn't see Santiano show that new character off, but here we are.

The show has no internal logic I can track on who it's ~meant to be~. I kind of hope they end the episode on a cliffhanger and have three different endings depending on time zones in the after-show.
