I still have a couple, one of which had a really good cover but the interiors were basically FF7 fanart done in ballpoint pen. I haven't been to a mainstream comic con in many years but yeah the small/self people there were just so bad and so earnest, and it was clear that they only ever read a particular variety of superhero comics.
