I thought it was both, that she was using a silence spell for privacy but Chil's thoughts immediately went to the dumbest use of magic possible, magic-ing the poop away, which makes fun of the dumb poop related post-book world building by JK Rowling.

I mean, the manga itself clearly draws inspiration from Western fantasy so it's not a stretch to think Kui may have an interest in Harry Potter as well?

Not saying that it's a reference to JKR for sure but it's not like Japanese people can't have an interest in what's happening in the West, especially when it's online.

Yes, basically. Mickbell is a bad person.

It sheds an interesting light on the part where Kabru's party was talking about Laius's group and Mickbell mentioned how Chilchak was this greedy rear end in a top hat who pressures people into joining his shady guild and makes members pay a big sum of money. Knowing what we do now about Chilchak being such a huge worrywart about others, he probably formed a labor union for adventurers to make sure its members don't get taken advantage of. The money you pay is probably for the union upkeep, but at least you're certain you get decent gigs out of it.

I just read the official translation of the manga recently, and one of the bonus material comics that I don't remember seeing a fan translation for establishes that this is basically the case; one of his previous jobs, a succubus hunting party, they had secretly hired him to use him as bait for the succubi and would have let the monsters kill him if he hadn't gotten a bad feeling and hid before they were about to betray him. That's both why he formed the half-foot union, so that they aren't considered disposable anymore (which also makes him and Laios talking about sailors using half-foots to detect sirens before anyone else can hear them harsher in retrospect), and why he demands payment up front before taking jobs (so people aren't encouraged to let him die so they can get out of paying him).

Mickbell is a dirty scab.

Edit: Same volume's bonus material establishes that the reason the dullahan didn't have a mount was it had been riding along on its old one when it heard noise in the building the party had been camping in when it attacked them later; when it knocked on the door the first time, though, Mithrun was the one who answered, wordlessly teleporting it and its horse into the air over the canyon before Kabru even got to see who was there. The dullahan had to climb all the way back up on its own (since its horse presumably didn't survive the fall), and it immediately attacked Laios when he encountered it because it was pissed off.

"Take what you can get" is his personal motto, and he's more than happy to take advantage of other races' shortsighted impression of halflings, to the point that Chilchuck would probably be glad he's not signed on with the guild.
His dream is to strike it rich, and buy a home for himself and Kuro in the finest of the noble districts in Karka Broud.

Kuro and Mickbell
Mickbell is ostensibly Kuro's owner, but having been abandoned as a child, Mickbell has come to view Kuro as the only real family he has ever known. The thought that Kuro may one day leave him fills him with dread, and he tries to disabuse Kuro of the notion of independence.
He should be more careful of outside influences, as Laios has his sights set squarely on Kuro.

It's a good punchline to the whole anthology in context. Some of them get a bit heavy, so going that full-on (detective) comedy lets the reader leave feeling content.

Huh.

Older than I thought.

(Feels a bit like a retcon, but if all retcons developed as well as the ones in Delicious in Dungeon, I don't think I'd ever object to them.)

Also, wow. More than 50 years in the dungeon without dying once. That's a pretty impressive record.

Also, wow. More than 50 years in the dungeon without dying once. That's a pretty impressive record.

I reread the series recently, but I don't remember the specific amount of time he was in the dungeon. Edit: Wait, I just remembered, he was thirty-six during his flashback to him and the other dwarfs down there, and at the start of the series he mentions being in the dungeon for more than ten years before meeting the party, which they find odd at the time and also reflect upon while working to rescue Senshi from the hippogriff-turned-griffin, since the dungeon was only discovered six years prior. So for him to be 112, either his age has been doubled, or he was in that dungeon a lot longer than he initially suggested. Edit again: Oh, yeah, the bible thing outright states that he was in there for more than fifty years and just made up a random number when asked. Could still be a retcon, but that stuff was remembered at least. I think that the shapeshifter incident actually hinted at his age not adding up as well actually, though I'll have to check again. (Also, wow, his first death ever was to the dungeon rabbits. Fits with the above and his distrust of resurrection magic, but still impressive. His second death came almost immediately after, thanks to the dragons, though.)

I did notice a minor continuity error though; after the party splits off from Shuro and Kabru's groups to head deeper into the dungeon, the latter, when we get back to them, are shown to meet the Canaries that same day, almost immediately after they left the dungeon. This in turn leads to Kabru and Mithrun falling down into the dungeon ahead of the party, leaving evidence of their passing and causing or affecting several of the challenges the party faced in earlier chapters, as well as finding the group's gear from the pre-comic encounter with the red dragon still where it was but leaving it there.

However, in chapters before we saw their fall, there's a some moments that don't fit with this; the main one I remember is Laios chucking the bell through that one dwarven door to distract a shapeshifted Izutsumi resulting in a small cut to Shuro getting pissed off about it, with two Canaries and Kabru looking over at him. But the shapeshifting stuff happens after Kabru and Mithrun fall in according to the later chapters, which is how they were the ones who led the hippogriff into the changeling ring and presumably the ones who made the fire the party finds the ashes of outside the door Laios chucked said bell through. Even before we learned that it didn't fit, actually, since we had already seen the party make camp several times since the split, meaning it was established to be several days later on their end. There's also Kabru's wishing the party luck as he and Mithrun fall into the hole, followed by a "meanwhile" cut to the second time the party got shapeshifted (so, again, several days after the fall actually happened).

Both of those things are fairly minor gags though, only one of which actually had any in-comic effects (the bell annoying Shuro again), and can be ignored fairly easily. Other than them I don't think there are any timeline issues. I'd have to look things over again and keep more careful track of how events line up to be sure, though. Still, after I noticed this I was surprised it got missed. Shows that even with the amazing amount of thought and detail the author puts into the series, it's still possible to make mistakes and miss stuff.

His bonus comic says outright that he's been in the dungeon for about 76 years, and that his claim of ten years was him losing track of time and making something up on the spot.

Yeah, I know. I just hadn't read that yet when I was writing my last post since I immediately got caught up in remembering and re-checking the series, and only went back to reading the extra material afterward. Whereupon I almost immediately saw that it plainly stated what I had been figuring out, even giving a timeline of events.
