Problem description: Got up this morning, tried turning on my computer, heard the fans spin up for a split-second, then everything stopped. Now the whole thing won't turn on at all Attempted fixes: Every other status light (there's a green light on my motherboard and an orange light near my ethernet plug) remains on so I'm inclined to not think it's my PSU. If I turn off all power and then back on either by switching off the PSU or unplugging altogether, the first time I attempt to power up the BOOT_DEVICE and DRAM LEDs on the motherboard flash red ONCE, then do nothing, even if I hit the power button again. If I unplug/plug or switch off/on again, they will once more flash, but only ONCE. Assuming it might be one of my RAM sticks, I tried once with only one stick (after turning everything off/on again) then with the other, always making sure they were in the right slot. Neither configuration worked. The odds of frying both RAM sticks at once has to be low, right? I tried removing the connector, checking if it was broken, then plugging it back in to no avail. Recent changes: None -- Operating system: Windows 10 System specs: Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V CPU: some sort of i5 from 6 years ago RAM: 2*4GB Kingston HyperX Genesis GPU: GTX 1060 6GB PSU: EarthWatts EA-650W Green HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB Location: Irrelevant but Canada for the sake of fulfilling the template I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes. Google provides many results for the lights remaining red or flashing constantly but nothing about them flashing just once.

I'd try removing the GPU and using onboard video and seeing if it powers up. Also, disconnect any non-essential HDs. How old is the PSU? A failing PSU can power on lights etc. but not work well enough to power the whole system. Kate Lockwell posted:The odds of frying both RAM sticks at once has to be low, right? If a PSU dies badly it can kill everything.
