Gengar can learn Shadow Claw through TM in the main series and Mewtwo has an actual signature move that's already in the game data for Go but just isn't used.

Hold the ball until the circle is as small as you can comfortably hit, I personally try to get it as big as I can while still being in the "great" range because I am bad at throwing and end up missing "excellent"s like 75% of the time.

Release the ball but don't throw it, the circle will disappear but the size will stay set until you grab the ball again.

Wait until the Pokemon attacks, during the attack animation you won't be able to see the circle but you also won't change its size by touching the ball. Just as it finishes attacking (or slightly before, or slightly after, it varies between Pokemon, but it should be pretty easy to get a feel for it) grab and throw the ball. If you've done it correctly the ball will be in midair when the attack animation ends and the circle size won't reset. If you time it absolutely perfect you can even land a ball between back-to-back attacks.

It sounds more complicated than it is but if you've ever played a game where you have to watch an enemy's attack animation to know when to dodge or attack (dark souls, zelda, super fuckin mario) you've already got the skills to pull it off.

I mean I'd still probably want a Shadow Claw Gengar for gyms, that higher DPS will gently caress up weaker opponents before they can do much of anything without having to use a charge move. It's definitely still got a niche but Lick will probably be better for raids.

This kind of stuff I can deal with, they're really into the game and like finding a way to play against other people who are equally into the game and sure it can be a pain in the rear end when you can't hold a specific gym that someone's claimed until they get their gold but at least they're not slapping phones out of people's hands or harassing them because of something that happened in a loving f2p mobile game.

The local discord had a ditto quest posted in the research channel almost every single day that the Let's Go quests were live. You can usually find any of the limited time ones there if you're persistent enough.

In the neutral case it could go either way: your dps goes down because half of your energy goes to the new lower dps charge move, or maybe niantic made you gain more energy to compensate for the second move? Maybe you just gain more energy by wasting less when tanking the opponent's moves?

There's no impact. EPS on your quick move is unchanged, both charge moves simply draw from the same pool.

Anything that has a multi bar charge move and a high eps quick move is great for spamming charge attacks since you can only block twice.

This is not necessarily true, the raid boss stats and level are not affected by weather during battle, however their moves will be boosted. So a Fire Blast ttar could actually be harder to beat in sunny weather than partly cloudy.

Base catch rates are unaffected but their level is a modifier and the extra 5 levels will in fact make the Pokemon harder to catch.

Calcy IV can instantly spit out a perfectly optimized battle party with a choice between focusing on DPS or TDO with only the information it scrapes from the screen.

Pokemon Go's recommended list on the other hand is broken in a way that almost feels deliberate. The optimist in me wants to believe that the recommended team is like a set of training wheels, a way to tell the player that you want to use your strong Pokemon with good type matchups against the raid boss while still leaving room for more experienced players to create their own improved lineups. The realist in me knows that this is likely an unintended side effect of laziness or incompetence.
