That opening clip brings back memories of the exact moment where I realized baseball was just a dream, because a dude that could throw 90 came in to pitch against me and I could hear the ball hiss but not see it.

Nothing wrong with that, he's only 30 (well, he'll basically be 31 next year) and still pitched great last year. Always ask for more than you think you'll get and negotiate down.

Even considering his age I was still shocked but looking Carrasco up on b-r his current contract runs through 2020 (9.75m in 2019 and a 2020 team option for 9.5m) and then he's a 33 year old pitcher in FA so I guess I can actually understand why he'd sign that contract
